#UDVB OPENS A-10 PLAY WITH 3-1 WIN AT DUQUESNE

Turner with the 21-Kill, 10-Dig Double-Double to Lead the Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton volleyball team opened its Atlantic 10 schedule with a 3-1 (25-14, 18-25, 25-15, 25-16) win at Duquesne. The Flyers improve to 8-5 on the season and 1-0 in league action while the Dukes fall to 6-9 overall and 0-1 in A-10 play.

STATS OF THE MATCH
• Senior Alaina Turner led all attackers with 21 kills and passed 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season while sophomore Amber Erhahon equaled her season-high with nine kills.
• Senior Janna Krafka got under a match-high 16 digs and sophomore Jessica Sloan passed 13 digs for the Flyers.
• Sophomore Jane Emmenecker set 43 assists and senior Angel Agu was swinging at .667 with six kills.
• Duquesne was led by Mary Henry with 26 assists and 11 digs. The Dukes had four attackers with seven kills apiece and Camryn Vecera was the team's leading passer with 14 digs.
• Dayton out-hit Duquesne, .280 to .144, and the Flyers recorded 57 kills to the Dukes' 37.

SET-BY-SET
• Set One: The score was tied 3-3 in the first set when Dayton rattled off 10 points, a run that included four Duquesne errors, to jump out to the 13-3 lead. The Flyers pushed open a 13-point lead late in the frame, 23-10, after a service ace from sophomore Jessica Sloan and cruised to the 25-14 first-set win.
• Set Two: Duquesne scored three of the first four points of the second set and was ahead four, 12-8, after a quick 6-0 run. The Flyers rallied to knot the score at 15-all but the Dukes were ahead again by three at 18-15. UD would not overcome the DUQ as the Dukes picked up the 25-18 win in set two.
• Set Three: Out of intermission, the third set was tied at 3-3 when Dayton scored four consecutive points to pull ahead, 7-3. A 3-0 spurt pushed the Flyer lead to six, 13-7, and Dayton would score the final six points of the frame to claim a 10-point, 25-15 win in the third game.
• Set Four: The Flyers were up four early, 8-4, in the fourth set and doubled their lead to eight, 13-5, on the strength of a 5-0 run. The UD advantage was 10, 18-8, after back-to-back DUQ attacking errors and the lead was 10 again at 24-14. The Dukes held match point twice but a kill from Turner ended the match as the Flyers won, 25-16.

UP NEXT
• Dayton will scoot over to Philadelphia tomorrow morning for a 7 p.m. match-up at La Salle. Although the Pope will be in town he is not expected at the match which will be played at the Explorers' Tom Gola Arena.
