#UDWSOC HOSTS LA SALLE THURSDAY; AT FORDHAM SUNDAY

The Flyers Are Back at Baujan Vs. La Salle Oct. 13 At 7:30 p.m.

The University of Dayton women's soccer team (3-7-2, 1-2-1 A-10) continues Atlantic 10 Conference play at home vs. La Salle (3-7-2, 1-1-2 A-10) at Baujan Field this Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The Flyers have a road match at Fordham Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.

• Promotions for the Dayton vs. La Salle women's soccer match include: Arby's Sandwich Giveaway; Dayton soccer scarves (must have attended eight UD men's or women's soccer matches and have games punched on card or they can be purchased for $15 each, while supplies last). 

LAST TIME OUT
• Dayton outshot VCU 19-5, including 11-2 on goal, but fell 1-0 to the Rams Oct. 9 on Senior Day. Libby Leedom led the Flyers with six shots, including four on goal.
• Rams goalkeeper Audrey Sanderson made nine saves and VCU also had two defensive team saves by Amanda Hallesjo in the 20th minute and Tori Burress in the 80th minute.

THE SERIES vs. LA SALLE
• The Flyers lead the all-time series 17-6-1 over the Explorers. The Flyers won the last meeting 3-1 on Oct. 18, 2015 at Baujan Field. 
• The last Dayton win over La Salle was Nov. 9, 2014, a 2-1 victory at Baujan Field for the A-10 Championship. Erin O'Malley had a goal and an assist in the game. 
• UD is 9-2-1 all-time when playing La Salle at home. 

THE SERIES vs. FORDHAM
• The Flyers lead the all-time series 17-1-3 over the Rams.
• Dayton won the last meeting 3-1 on Oct. 18, 2015 at Baujan Field.  Alexis Kiehl scored the game-winning goal for the Flyers. 
• UD is 9-0-0 all-time when playing Fordham at Baujan Field. 

SCOUTING LA SALLE
• The Explorers are 3-7-2 overall and 1-1-2 in A-10 play. They are coming off a 2-1 home loss to Saint Joseph's on Oct. 9.
• The Explorers were picked to finish fourth in the preseason A-10 standings. 
• La Salle is led by Deja Davis with seven points (2 goals, 3 assists), while Maci Bower leads in goals (3). Kristin Haugstad has dished out three assists. 
• Larisa Zambelli has played 12 games in goal with 20 goals against and a 1.60 GAA, with 58 saves. 
• Three different Explorers have scored multiple goals this season. 

SCOUTING FORDHAM
• The Rams are 7-3-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the A-10, currently in fifth place in the standings. 
• Brooke Salmon and Margaret Roughley lead Fordham with eight points each (3 goals and 2 assists). Nicole Natale leads Fordham in assists with three. 
• Five different Rams have scored multiple goals this season. 
• Three different goalkeepers have played for the Rams, led by Adaeze Obinelo with 19 saves in sevan games, and she has a .98 GAA. Megan Fitzgerald has played in six matches with 18 saves and a .91 GAA.

•  The Flyers will host Rhode Island Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Baujan Field. 

FLYER FACTS
• The Flyers are 3-3-2 in their last eight matches, after starting the season 0-4-0. 
• 2015 First Team All-Atlantic 10 forward Alexis Kiehl accounts for nine of UD's 18 goals scored this season. She leads the Flyers with 19 points (9 goals, 1 assist). 
• After moving to midfielder from defender, senior Libby Leedom has scored four goals, has one assist, and is Dayton's second-leading scorer this year. 
• Freshman Madeleine Morrissey scored her first collegiate goal against Xavier (Sept. 2), Micayla Livingston scored her first collegiate goal, the game-winner, in her first collegiate start in Dayton's 3-0 win over Purdue (Sept. 4); and redshirt freshman Sara Robertson scored her first collegiate goal against Omaha (Sept. 11) in UD's 2-1 victory.  
• Junior Sidney LeRoy leads the Flyers in assists with four. 
Kaelyn Johns started every game in goal as a true freshman last year. She finished her rookie campaign with 79 saves and a 1.65 GAA. She registered her first shutout of the 2016 season in UD's 3-0 win over Purdue, tallying a career-high eight saves. She tied her career high with eight saves in a 5-0 Flyer win at Davidson (Oct. 6).

SCORING MACHINE
• Junior Alexis Kiehl scored a career-high four goals (14th, 30th, 54th, 55th minutes), in Dayton's 5-0 shutout of Davidson Thursday night, Oct. 6, at Alumni Soccer Stadium. She becomes the first player in Head Coach Mike Tucker's 22 seasons to score four goals in one match.  

TERRIFIC TUCKER
• Flyer Head Coach Mike Tucker is in his 22nd season at UD and has amassed an overall record of 307-121-32 overall and 164-33-11 vs. A-10 opponents. 
• The legendary coach announced he will retire following the 2016 season. 
• UD's 3-1 win over Fordham on Oct. 18, 2015 at Baujan Field marked the 300th career victory for Coach Mike Tucker. He is one of just 17 active coaches to have won 300 matches in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer.

BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN 
• The Flyers are 216-64-21 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. UD owns a .761 winning percentage in those matches.  In the last six years, Dayton is 60-12-6 at home, an astounding .819 winning percentage at Baujan. 

FLYER SUCCESS 
• The Dayton women's soccer program owns an overall record of 431-186-49 since it became a varsity program in 1984. 
• The Flyers made NCAA Tournament appearances in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014, advancing to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001. 

A-10 HONORS FOR TWO
• UD's Kaelyn Johns and George Mason senior Kirsten Glad were named the league's Co-Defensive Players of the Week. Flyer freshman Madeleine Morrissey was selected as the A-10 Rookie of the Week for games played Sept. 12-18. Johns, a goalkeeper from Downingtown, Pa., had seven saves in a 1-1 double-overtime tie at crosstown rival Wright State at Alumni Field Sunday night. The seven saves, which were made during her 110 minutes in net, were one shy of her career high.  Morrissey scored Dayton's lone goal in a 1-1 double-overtime tie versus crosstown rival Wright State Sunday night on the road at Alumni Field. It was the second goal of the season for the midfielder from Cincinnati, Ohio.

STREAK STOPPER
• The Flyers ended a four-match losing streak with a 3-0 shutout over Purdue (Sept. 4). At that time, it was only the second time the Boilermakers had been shut out this season. The other was a 2-0 loss to then-ranked No. 4 West Virginia. 
• Senior Libby Leedom scored two goals, freshman Micayla Livingston scored the game-winner, Sidney LeRoy had two assists and Alexis Kiehl added an assist in the victory.
• Sophomore Kaelyn Johns recorded a career-high eight saves in the shutout. 

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUND 
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: nine times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014). 
• UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five. 

 A-10 DEFENSIVE POTW HONOR 
Sophomore Kaelyn Johns was chosen as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week for Aug. 29 – Sept. 4. She had a career day in Dayton's 3-0 win over Purdue (Sept. 4). The Flyer goalkeeper notched a career-high eight saves versus the Boilermakers in UD's first shutout this season. Prior to this match, Purdue had only been shut out by No. 4 West Virginia this season. Johns played all 90 minutes and made quality saves in the fourth, 34th, 35th, 54th and 72nd minutes. Starting with Johns' diving save at the left post in the 34th minute, the Boilermakers had three shots and four corner kicks in a span of about 90 seconds but were unable to break through.

KIEHL EARNS PRESEASON RECOGNITION
• For the second consecutive season, Flyer forward Alexis Kiehl was named to the A-10 Preseason Team.

FLYERS ARE FAVORED AGAIN
• For the eighth consecutive year, the Dayton women's soccer team has been chosen as the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorite in a vote conducted by the league's 14 head coaches. The Flyers earned 185 votes and eight first-place votes to take the top spot in the rankings in 2016.

FANTASTIC FRESHMEN 
• Dayton's freshmen have a history of making an impact. 
• The Flyers have had at least one representative on the A-10 All-Rookie team every year since it started in 2000.
Beth Kamphaus was named to the All-Rookie team in 2015 after coming on strong in conference play.
Kaelyn Johns started every match in goal for the Flyers in 2015. 
Nadia Pestell started 19 matches for the Flyers on defense and logged 1,474 minutes. 
• In 2014, Alexis Kiehl and Nicolette Griesinger were both named to the A-10 All-Rookie team. 
• Kiehl was the third-leading scorer for the Flyers and Griesinger started every match and led UD in minutes played with 2,135.

CINCINNATI CONNECTIONS
• Nine Flyers are from the Cincinnati area: senior Sarah Byrne, juniors Abby Weigel, Alexis and Kaitlynn Kiehl, and freshmen Hanna Merritt, Caroline Mink, Madeleine Morrissey, Alex Powell, and Sara Robertson.
