KETTERING, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's golf team is in second place (289, +5) after the first day of the Flyer Invitational, just five strokes out of the lead. Senior Nick Paxson and junior Brendan Keating each fired a one-under-par 70 to sit tied for first place.

The two-day event is being held at NCR Country Club in conjunction with Dayton's women's team who is also hosting the Flyer Invitational. The men are playing on the on the South Course at 7,100 yards with a par of 71.

Michigan is in first place in the team standings with a score of 284 (E). In addition to Paxson and Keating, Michigan's Nick Carlson and Ian Kim are also tied for first place with a first-round score of 70 (-1).

Paxson found his way to the top of the scoring with three birdies and an eagle while Keating played consistently at par with only one bogie to two birdies. Across all 11 of Dayton's participants, the Flyers carded 18 under-par holes.
