#UDWSOC TAKES ON RHODE ISLAND AND ST. BONAVENTURE

The University of Dayton women's soccer team (3-8-3, 1-3-2 A-10) plays two crucial Atlantic 10 Conference matches this weekend. With four league matches left to play, the Flyers are currently tied for 10th in the A-10 standings with Rhode Island. Only the top eight teams qualify for the championship which will be hosted by Rhode Island Nov. 3-6. Since joining the A-10 in 1995, UD has qualified for the conference championship every year. Dayton hosts Rhode Island this Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field. Admission is free. The Flyers then travel to St. Bonaventure for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday, Oct. 23.

• Promotions for the Dayton vs. Rhode Island women's soccer match include: Green Dot Game (students may earn one PATH point for game attendance); Dayton soccer scarves (must have attended eight UD men's or women's soccer matches and have games punched on card or they can be purchased for $15 each, while supplies last). 

THE SERIES vs. RHODE ISLAND
• The Flyers lead the all-time series 16-3-0 over the Rams. The Flyers won the last meeting 2-0 on Oct. 22, 2015 on the road.
• Dayton has come out victorious in the last seven meetings with Rhode Island. 
• UD is 6-1-0 all-time when playing Rhode Island at home. 

THE SERIES vs. ST. BONAVENTURE
• The Flyers lead the all-time series 16-1-2 over the Bonnies; and have won the last four meetings.
• Dayton won the last meeting 6-1 on Oct. 25, 2015 at Baujan Field. Alexis Kiehl had a hat trick in the match.
• Dayton is 4-1-2 when playing at the Bonnies. 

UP NEXT
•  The Flyers close out the regular season with a Oct. 27 match at the defending A-10 Tournament Champion Duquesne and host Massachusetts on Sunday, Oct. 30 at Baujan Field. 

FLYER FACTS
• 2015 First Team All-Atlantic 10 forward Alexis Kiehl accounts for 10 of UD's 20 goals scored this season. She leads the Flyers with 21 points (10 goals, 1 assist). She is currently 22nd in the nation in NCAA DI women's soccer for total goals scored. 
• Senior Libby Leedom has scored five goals, has one assist, and is Dayton's second-leading scorer this year. 
• Freshman Madeleine Morrissey scored her first collegiate goal against Xavier (Sept. 2), Micayla Livingston scored her first collegiate goal, the game-winner, in her first collegiate start in Dayton's 3-0 win over Purdue (Sept. 4); and redshirt freshman Sara Robertson scored her first collegiate goal against Omaha (Sept. 11) in UD's 2-1 victory.  
• Junior Sidney LeRoy leads the Flyers in assists with four. Livingston has three assists. 
Kaelyn Johns started every game in goal as a true freshman last year. She finished her rookie campaign with 79 saves and a 1.65 GAA. She registered her first shutout of the 2016 season in UD's 3-0 win over Purdue, tallying a career-high eight saves. She tied her career high with eight saves in a 5-0 Flyer win at Davidson (Oct. 6).

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
• The Rams are 4-6-4 overall and 1-3-2 in A-10 play. They are coming off a 1-1 tie at home against Massachusetts on Oct. 16.
• The Rams were picked to finish sixth in the preseason A-10 standings. 
• Rhode Island is led by Nicole Brennan and Donika Murray with eight points each (3 goals, 2 assists), while Taylor Ross also has three goals coupled with one assist.
• Katie Nickles has played 14 games in goal with 17 goals against and a 1.13 GAA, with 64 saves. 

SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
• The Bonnies are 3-11-1 overall, 0-6-0 A-10.
• Danielle Vis leads SBU with 10 points (4 goals and 2 assists). 
• Lauren Malcolm has started all 15 games in goal. She has an A-10 best 88 saves this season. She has 28 goals against and a 1.82 GAA.

SCORING MACHINE
• Junior Alexis Kiehl scored a career-high four goals (14th, 30th, 54th, 55th minutes), in Dayton's 5-0 shutout of Davidson Thursday night, Oct. 6, at Alumni Soccer Stadium. She becomes the first player in Head Coach Mike Tucker's 22 seasons to score four goals in one match.  

TERRIFIC TUCKER
• Flyer Head Coach Mike Tucker is in his 22nd season at UD and has amassed an overall record of 307-122-33 overall and 164-34-12 vs. A-10 opponents. 
• The legendary coach announced he will retire following the 2016 season. 
• UD's 3-1 win over Fordham on Oct. 18, 2015 at Baujan Field marked the 300th career victory for Coach Mike Tucker. He is one of just 17 active coaches to have won 300 matches in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer.

BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN 
• The Flyers are 216-64-22 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. In the last six years, Dayton is 60-12-7 at home, an astounding .804 winning percentage at Baujan. 

FLYER SUCCESS 
• The Dayton women's soccer program owns an overall record of 431-187-50 since it became a varsity program in 1984. 
• The Flyers made NCAA Tournament appearances in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014, advancing to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUND 
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: nine times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014). 
• UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five. 

TOUGH START
• The Flyers started the season with three losses by one goal; including a 2-1 setback at Cincinnati (Aug. 19) in which the Bearcats scored with 14 seconds remaining in the second overtime. The Flyers also lost 2-1 at Ohio (Aug. 21) and vs. Kent State (Aug. 28) at Baujan Field. 

KIEHL EARNS PRESEASON RECOGNITION
• For the second consecutive season, Flyer forward Alexis Kiehl was named to the A-10 Preseason Team.

FANTASTIC FRESHMEN 
• Dayton's freshmen have a history of making an impact. 
• The Flyers have had at least one representative on the A-10 All-Rookie team every year since it started in 2000.
Beth Kamphaus was named to the All-Rookie team in 2015 after coming on strong in conference play.
Kaelyn Johns started every match in goal for the Flyers in 2015. 
Nadia Pestell started 19 matches for the Flyers on defense and logged 1,474 minutes. 
• In 2014, Alexis Kiehl and Nicolette Griesinger were both named to the A-10 All-Rookie team. 
• Kiehl was the third-leading scorer for the Flyers and Griesinger started every match and led UD in minutes played with 2,135.
