DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton volleyball team put away Saint Louis 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-22) Friday night at Frericks Center in Atlantic 10 Conference action. The Flyers have now won 13 consecutive matches and remain unbeaten in league play.
Dayton improves to 24-1 on the season while holding a 10-0 mark in A-10 matches. Saint Louis moves to 12-13 overall and 7-3 in conference games.
STATS OF THE MATCH
• Junior Jessica Sloan posted a match-high 18 kills to go with eight digs and two blocks. Also in double-digits was sophomore Lauren Bruns with 10 kills.
• Junior Amber Erhahon was one off her career high with nine blocks and, as a team, the Flyers tallied 11 blocks.
• Junior Jane Emmenecker set 34 assists and sophomore Margo Wolf got under 15 digs.
• Saint Louis was led by Danielle Rygelski with 16 kills and Nenye Okoro with 12 digs.
SET-BY-SET
• Set One: Tied at two points apiece, Dayton put together four straight points to jump in front 6-2. UD was leading by five, 10-5, when SLU used a 3-0 spurt to cut into the advantage but the Flyers were up five again at 14-9. Saint Louis scored six of the next eight points to pull within one, 16-15, but that would be as close as they would get. A Billiken attack error ended the set with the Flyers on top, 25-18.
• Set Two: Wolf served up an ace in the early going of the second set to give Dayton a 5-2 lead but Saint Louis rallied to even the frame at 6-6. A quick 3-0 run pushed the Flyers in front by four, 14-10, and UD was up nine, 22-13, following an 8-1 run. Sloan's service ace set up set point at 24-13 and Bruns laid down a kill to end the game with Dayton winning 25-13.
• Set Three: Saint Louis started set three strong and held a 6-3 lead following a kill from Rygelski. The Billikens reached 10 leading by three but the Flyers scored four unanswered points to get in front, 11-10. Trailing by two, Dayton tallied the next four points and Saint Louis called timeout down, 16-14. SLU burned its second timeout behind 21-17 after a UD service ace by Emmenecker and the Flyer lead was four again at 23-19. Sloan again got the team to set point at 24-22 the Flyers won the match on the next play, a Saint Louis attack error, 3-0.

Dayton hits the road next weekend with a two-match swing in Pennsylvania. On Friday, Dayton will be in Pittsburgh for a 7 p.m. match at Duquesne. On Sunday, Dayton will square off against La Salle in Philadelphia. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
