DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will return home after a month on the road to host Fordham in Atlantic 10 play Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the week with a 3-5-2 record overall and a 0-0-1 conference mark. The Flyers are 2-1 at home this season, having last played at Baujan on Sept. 4. Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 12th year at the helm.
The Flyers are averaging 0.80 goals per game while allowing 1.30 goals to opponents. UD is out-shooting opposing teams 14.1 to 11.8 and has a corner kick advantage through 10 games.
UD is led by freshman
Rok Taneski, who has three goals and three assists, while
Nick Hagenkord has two goals. Freshman and reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week
Federico Barrios has made four starts in goal with a 0.45 goals against average and two shutouts.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
FORDHAM
Fordham comes to Dayton with a 3-3-3 record overall and a 0-0-1 A-10 mark. The Rams have found much of their success at home, going 1-1-3 on the road. Head coach Jim McElderry is in his 14th year in charge of Fordham.
As a team, the Rams are scoring 0.89 goals per game and giving up 1.00 to opponents. The Rams have scored 8 goals in nine matches. They average 13.8 shots per game while their opponents average 10.6.
Fordham is led by brothers Janos and Jannik
Loebe. Janos has 2 goals and 2 assists as well as 12 shots on goal. Jannik has 1 goal and 3 assist. Goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu has allowed 9 goals with an average of 0.91. He has recorded 29 saves and 2 shutouts.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Fordham have played 18 times previously with the Flyers winning 10 of the meetings and drawing twice. UD tied Fordham 1-1 after two overtimes on Oct. 31, 2015 in the last contest between the two teams.
Lalas Abubakar scored the lone goal for the Flyers that day.
LAST OUTING
Dayton opened A-10 play last weekend with a 0-0 double overtime draw at Massachusetts. Barrios guided the Flyers to a shutout, earning a valuable point on the road in league action.
Fordham also drew in its A-10 opener on the road at George Washington. The Rams and Colonials finished 0-0 after two overtimes, splitting the points.
BARRIOS NAMED ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman goalkeeper
Federico Barrios was named A-10 Rookie of the Week on Oct. 3 after recording back-to-back shutouts for the Flyers. The Colombia native helped UD to a 1-0 over Liberty before playing all 110 minutes in a 0-0 draw with UMass.
AMONGST THE BEST
UD ranks first in the Atlantic 10 in shots per game. Individually,
Rok Taneski leads the league in shots per game, shots on goal per game, and third in total points.
The Rams rank third in the conference for shots per game and fourth in the gonference for shots on goal per game. They rank fifth in the conference for save percentage. Jannik Loebe ranks fifth in the conference for assists per game with 0.33. Janos Loebe ranks second in the conference in shots per game with 3.67 and fourth in the conference for shots on goal per game with 1.33.
