KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Dayton volleyball team picked up its fourth Atlantic 10 win Friday, 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-21), at Rhode Island.
Dayton improves to 17-1 overall and 4-0 in league games while Rhode Island moves to 9-8 on the season and 4-1 in conference play.
STATS OF THE MATCH
• Freshman Jamie Peterson led the Flyer attack with 14 kills while sophomore Lauren Bruns added 13 kills to go with a career-high eight blocks (1,7).
• Junior Jessica Sloan also chipped in 13 kills while sophomore Kendyll Brown had eight kills to go with a career-high nine blocks (2,7).
• Junior Jane Emmenecker set a match-high 50 assists.
• Rhode Island was led by Audrey Castro with 16 kills while Callan Kinnan posted a double-double with 46 assists and 13 digs.
SET-BY-SET
• Set One: Rhode Island came out strong, jumping out to a quick 4-1 lead to open the match. Dayton rattled off a 5-0 run capped by a Sloan service ace to turn the tables in favor of the Flyers, 7-5. The Rams rallied to even the frame at 9-9 and the set was tied again at 15-all. URI got in front by four at 22-18 and closed out the set with a 3-1 spurt to win, 25-19.
• Set Two: The second set was tied five times before Dayton got into gear and used a 6-0 run to open a 14-7 lead on Rhode Island. The Flyer lead was 10 at 20-10 following a kill from Erhahon and UD was ahead 24-15 when it reached set point. The Rams held twice but the Flyers evened the match with a 25-17 win in set two.
• Set Three: The first half of the third set remained close as the two squads traded points through a 12-12 tie. Dayton put together three consecutive points to take the lead at 15-12 and were up 23-14 following a 7-0 run. Rhode Island rallied, pulling within five, 24-19. Sloan laid down a kill on the next place to end the set with Dayton up, 25-19.
• Set Four: Rhode Island opened the fourth set with a 3-1 lead but Dayton squared the set at four points apiece. The Flyers took over the advantage on a kill from Bruns at 6-5 and led by five at 12-7. UD was up six, 16-10, when a 4-0 URI spurt cut the advantage to two, 16-14. An ace from freshman Jordan Albarran gave Dayton match point at 24-19 and the match was decided by a kill from Peterson at 25-21.

Dayton will travel down to New York City tomorrow for an A-10 contest against Fordham. First serve is set for 5 p.m. in the Bronx at Rose Hill Gym.
