#UDWBB PREPARES FOR WISCONSIN WEDNESDAY

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will travel to Madison, Wis. Wednesday for a showdown with the University of Wisconsin. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. ET with the game taking place at the Kohl Center.

ABOUT THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the second week of the season with an 0-1 record after falling to reigning MAAC Champions Quinnipiac on Sunday. The Flyers face a tough schedule ahead with Wisconsin, Princeton, and national champions Connecticut over the next six days.

After one game, Dayton is shooting 39.2 percent from the field and averaging 60 points per game. The Flyers are led by sophomore Lauren Cannatelli's 14 points per game while JaVonna Layfield is adding 7.0 points and 10 rebounds each contest.

SCOUTING WISCONSIN
Wisconsin is looking for its first win of the year after going 0-2 through the first week of the season. The Badgers fell at Charlotte in the opener before suffering a 103-100 loss at home against Saint Francis. UW is scoring 74 points per game and giving up 83 points to opponents.

The Badgers are led by junior Cayla McMorris who is scroing 22.0 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals. Freshman Courtney Fredrickson is chipping in 12.5 points while redshirt senior Avyanna Young is recording 11.5 points and 11.0 rebounds each contest.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton lost its season opener to Quinnipiac 63-60 this past Sunday at UD Arena. The Flyers led by as much as 17 in the second quarter, but cold shooting in the second half sent Dayton to 0-1 on the season. Cannatelli led UD with 14 points.

THE SERIES
The Flyers and Badgers have met just one time, last season, with Dayton hosting Wisconsin at UD Arena. UD came out on top in that match-up 87-64.

PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish in a tie for second place in the Atlantic 10 Preseason poll, trailing only conference favorites Saint Louis. The Flyers tied with Duquesne and were picked ahead of George Washington, VCU, and Fordham.

ALREADY ALL-CONFERENCE
Junior guard Jenna Burdette was named First Team All-Conference after averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 assists per game last season. Senior guard Kelley Austria earned Second Team All-Conference and All-Defensive team honors, following an injury-shortened season in which she scored 10.4 points per game and recorded 2.6 steals per game. Fellow senior center Saicha Grant-Allen rounded out the accolades, earning Third Team All-Conference honors. The Ontario native scored 11.1 points each contest and grabbed 8.9 boards per game.

COMING OFF 2015-16
Dayton (14-15, 7-9 A-10) finished the 2015-16 season with its ninth consecutive postseason appearance by making a trip to the WNIT. The Flyers fell to Western Kentucky, ending the year with the first losing season since 2006-07. Head coach Shauna Green is in her first season in charge of the program.

NEW LEADER
Shauna Green was hired as the new Dayton women's basketball head coach on Sept. 11, 2016. She takes over for former head coach Jim Jabir, who was at the helm of the Flyers for 13 seasons. Green served as an assistant on Coach Jabir's staff at Dayton from 2012-15. In 2015-16, Green was an assistant on Joe McKeown's staff at Northwestern. She is in her third season as a collegiate head coach after having previously led Loras College.

DAYTON IN THE WNIT
Last season marked Dayton's fourth overall appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament. The Flyers have previously appeared in the post-season tournament in 2000, 2008 and 2009. UD's only WNIT win came against Oakland on March 19, 2009, a 70-55 victory in Rochester, Mich.

LAST SEASON'S ROOKIE OF THE YEAR GOES TO DAYTON
In voting among league head coaches, sophomore Lauren Cannatelli earned A-10 Rookie of the Year honors while also being named to the All-Rookie Team. Another honoree in post-season awards was junior Jenna Burdette, named to the A-10 All-Conference Third Team.

FLYERS IN REGULAR SEASON LEAGUE PLAY
Dayton has won 61 of its last 76 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.803), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, and includes a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season.

As a team, the Flyers have found much success from the free throw line, shooting the top four single season percentages in the last five seasons, including a school record .764 in 2013-14.

BURDETTE IN THE A-10
Averaging a team-best .404 three-point field goal percentage, junior Jenna Burdette ranked first in the Atlantic 10 last season. She was also ranked among the best in the league in numerous categories: fifth with 4.8 apg., fifth with an .813 free-throw percentage, 10th with a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio, 15th with 1.4 three-point field goals per game and 25th with 11.2 ppg.

FIRST HALF SUCCESS=SECOND HALF VICTORY
Dayton was 11-3 last season when leading at halftime. The Flyers were 3-12 when either trailing at the half or tied at halftime.

70'S THE MAGIC NUMBER
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 121-13 (.903) when scoring 70 or more points, including 10-2 in 2015-16. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark.

THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 476 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

SPEAKING OF THREES...
Cincinnati native sophomore Lauren Cannatelli made a team-best 62 three-point baskets last season which is a new program record among Flyer freshmen. Former Flyer Justine Raterman sank 47 three-pointers her first year on the team (2008-09). Cannatelli's 36.0 three-point field-goal percentage (62-172) is the fifth-best average by a UD freshman. Additionally, Cannatelli's 62 made three-point baskets ranked tied for fifth all-time for treys made in a season.

SHE DISHES IT OUT
Junior Jenna Burdette recorded her first career double-double against Duquesne on Feb. 21 with a career-high 14 assists and a career-high-tying 10 rebounds. The 14 assists tied the program record for most in a single game. Other former Flyers that tallied 14 assists in one game were Stefanie Miller (11/21/03 vs. Boise State) and Pam Palmer (1/3/82 vs. Ohio State).

ATLANTIC 10 FORMAT
Despite its name, the Atlantic 10 conference consists of 14 member schools competing under one division in women's basketball. Each team will play a 16-game conference slate this season, including three home-and-away series. Dayton will play two games against Duquesne, George Washington and Saint Louis and one against the remaining field during league action.

THE NEW AND IMPROVED 2017 ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2017 A-10 Championship will feature a new, enhanced format, with six first-round games being played on campus sites before heading to Richmond, Friday through Sunday, for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship final games. The top two championship seeds will receive a bye, with the remainder of the field facing off in games hosted by seeds 3-8 for the first round. The first round will take place on the Saturday and Sunday prior to the weekend of the quarterfinals, semifinals and final. In 2017 the first round will be Feb. 25-26 with the three final rounds being played March 3-5.

POSTSEASON EXPECTATION
The Flyers have made nine consecutive postseason appearances between the NCAA Division I Tournament and the Women's National Invitational Tournament. Here are the past nine campaigns
