#UDWBB TAKES ON PRINCETON SATURDAY

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton will travel to Princeton University Saturday to take on the Tigers at 1 p.m. at Jadwin Gymnasium located in Princeton, N.J.

UD (1-1) looks to keep the momentum after its win Wednesday and faces a Princeton squad that is looking for the first win of 2016-17.

ABOUT THE FLYERS
Dayton heads into the weekend with a 1-1 record overall, including a 19-point road win at Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Flyers were 5-7 away from home last season and already has a victory in their lone road game this year. UD and Princeton will meet for the third time in program history on Saturday.

Through two games, Dayton is shooting an equal percentage of 41.7% from the field and three-point range. The Flyers are scoring 71.5 points per game and are outscoring opponents by 8.0 points each contest. UD is also out-rebounding opposing teams by 6.0 per game, but has a -4.0 turnover margin.

Dayton is led by junior Jenna Burdette's 16.5 points per game to go with 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists each contest. Freshman Jayla Scaife had a stellar collegiate debut with 15 points against the Badgers while senior Kelley Austria (11.5 ppg), junior JaVonna Layfield (10.5 ppg), and sophomore Lauren Cannatelli (10.0 ppg) are all averaging double-digit points as well.

SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton hosts Dayton Saturday after six days off in its second home game of the season. The Tigers are 0-2 overall with losses to Rider and George Washington.  Head coach Courtney Banghart is in her 10th season at the helm and was named the 2015 Naismith Coach of the Year after guiding the Tigers to a 31-1 record overall. PU made it to the NCAA Tournament last year before falling in the first round to West Virginia.

After two games, Princeton is scoring 53.5 points per game and giving up 63.0 points to opponents. The Tigers are shooting 34.7% from the field, 25.0% from three-point range, and 75.0% from the free throw line. PU is being out-rebounded by opposing teams -1.0 and has a -3.5 turnover margin.

Freshman Bella Alarie leads the Tigers with 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Junior Tia Weledji and sophomore Jordan Muhammad are adding 8.5 points and 8.0 points each contest respectively.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton scored 58 points in the second half en route to an 83-64 victory over Wisconsin on the road Wednesday. The Flyers had four players in double figures including Burdette's career-high 23 points. RS-junior Alex Harris had a strong all-around effort with seven points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. UD hit 13 three's in the contest.

Princeton last played on Sunday, Nov. 13 and suffered a 56-46 loss at the Atlantic 10's George Washington. The Tigers led after the first quarter, but was outscored 20-9 in the second quarter which GW used to pick up the victory. Princeton was led by Jordan Muhammad's 12 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting.

THE SERIES
The Flyers and Tigers have met two times previously, both in Dayton, Ohio. Princeton won the first meeting back on Dec. 21, 1998 while Dayton the most recent meeting on Dec. 20, 2015, 85-81. In that contest, Burdette recorded a team-high 22 points while Grant-Allen contributed 19 points and six rebounds.

GREEN GETS FIRST WIN AS DAYTON HEAD COACH
On Nov. 16, 2016, Head Coach Shauna Green earned her first Division I victory at the helm of the Flyers with an 83-64 win over Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. It was her 30th career win as a head coach after two previous years in charge of Loras College.

PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish in a tie for second place in the Atlantic 10 Preseason poll, trailing only conference favorites Saint Louis. The Flyers tied with Duquesne and were picked ahead of George Washington, VCU, and Fordham.

ALREADY ALL-CONFERENCE
Junior guard Jenna Burdette was named First Team All-Conference after averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 assists per game last season. Senior guard Kelley Austria earned Second Team All-Conference and All-Defensive team honors, following an injury-shortened season in which she scored 10.4 points per game and recorded 2.6 steals per game. Fellow senior center Saicha Grant-Allen rounded out the accolades, earning Third Team All-Conference honors. The Ontario native scored 11.1 points each contest and grabbed 8.9 boards per game.

COMING OFF 2015-16
Dayton (14-15, 7-9 A-10) finished the 2015-16 season with its ninth consecutive postseason appearance by making a trip to the WNIT. The Flyers fell to Western Kentucky, ending the year with the first losing season since 2006-07. Head coach Shauna Green is in her first season in charge of the program.

NEW LEADER
Shauna Green was hired as the new Dayton women's basketball head coach on Sept. 11, 2016. She takes over for former head coach Jim Jabir, who was at the helm of the Flyers for 13 seasons. Green served as an assistant on Coach Jabir's staff at Dayton from 2012-15. In 2015-16, Green was an assistant on Joe McKeown's staff at Northwestern. She is in her third season as a collegiate head coach after having previously led Loras College.
