DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team lost the second game of the Atlantic 10 conference series to Saint Louis Saturday, 7-2.
The Flyers (5-16, 0-2 A-10) dropped the second game of the series to the Billikens (11-12, 2-0 A-10)
SCORING BREAKDOWN- Top of 1st – Saint Louis got on the board in the opening inning with an RBI single to right-center. Dayton 0, Saint Louis 1
- Top of 3rd – The Billikens doubled their lead, scoring on a throwing error by UD. Dayton 0, Saint Louis 2
- Top of 6th – Saint Louis doubled its lead again, this time with a two-run home run to left. Dayton 0, Saint Louis 4
- Bottom of 6th – Dayton managed to get on the board in the bottom half of the sixth with a sacrifice fly by Connor Echols. Robbie Doring singled to lead off the inning before a balk and a passed ball move him to third. He scored UD's first run on Echols hit. Dayton 1, Saint Louis 4
- Top of 8th – The Billkens got that run back in the eighth with an RBI single up the middle, pushing their lead back to four runs. Dayton 1, Saint Louis 5
- Top of 9th – A sacrifice fly and a Dayton error plated another two runs and sent the Flyers into their final at-bat down six. Dayton 1, Saint Louis 7
- Bottom of 9th – The Flyers started their rally attempt with two outs as Mitch Coughlin ripped an RBI double to left-center. Dayton 2, Saint Louis 7
KEY STATS- The Flyers totaled four hits in the game, with one each coming from Doring, Huesman, Ryan, and Coughlin.
- Starter Zach Beaver (L, 1-4) threw seven innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits while fanning three.
- Reliever Ben Polansky came in to pitch the eighth and ninth, giving up one earned run on two hits.
