PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- University of Dayton senior forward
Dyshawn Pierre has been selected to play in the 2016 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT). The prestigious event for college seniors will be held April 13-16 in at in Portsmouth, Virginia. The roster consists of 64 of the top senior basketball players in the country, and is a great avenue for players to increase their visibility among NBA and International scouts who come to watch.
Pierre, a two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, was second on the team in scoring (12.6 points per game) this season. He was Dayton's leader UD on the boards (8.5 rebounds a game), in minutes played (33.2) and FT% (.846, 66-78).
The first Canadian to play men's basketball at Dayton, the Whitby, Ont. native was named to the 2016 Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team. He is also a two-time Flyer MVP and was twice named NABC All-District.
He finished his career 23rd on UD's all-time scoring list with 1,423 points, 12th in rebounding at 838, and 11th in career 3-pt, FG% (.384, 114-297).
Pierre is the first Dayton player to play in the Portsmouth Invitational since Kevin Dillard in 2012.
UD finished the regular season co-champions in the A-10, with a 14-4 conference record. Dayton was 25-8 overall, and reached the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season. The Flyers' 78 wins over the last three seasons match the best three-year record in school history
