FLYERS GROUND THE FALCONS, 13-2

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team exploded for 13 runs on 14 hits in the victory over Bowling Green.

The Flyers (11-22) pounded the Falcons (11-22) on Wednesday with a seven-run seventh inning.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
  • Bottom of 2nd – Bowling Green opened the scoring the bottom of the second inning with a sacrifice fly to left. Dayton 0, BGSU 1
  • Top of the 4th – Dayton evened the score in the fourth with an RBI on Nick Ryan's fielder's choice, scoring Glenn Jones. Dayton 1, BGSU 1
  • Top of 7th- The Flyers took their first lead of the game in the seventh with an RBI single up the middle by Nick Weybright, scoring Ryan from third. Robbie Doring then followed up with a two-run single up the middle. Connor Echols continued the run with a two-run double, pushing UD's advantage even further.   • Top of 8th – Cam Silva scored on a wild pitch in the eighth, making it an eight-run game. Doring, Echols, and Jones kept the momentum going with consecutive RBI singles. Ryan piled on another run with a sacrifice fly. Dayton 13, BGSU 1

KEY STATS
  • The Flyers had 14 hits in the game, which ties a season high. The 13 runs are the second most this season.
  • Doring and Echols led the way with three RBI apiece while Huesman and Ryan drove in a pair each. Jones went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a double, and two runs. Four different Flyers had multi-hit games with nine players collecting at least one hit.
  • Starter A.J. Hemmelgarn went three innings, allowing just an unearned run on five hits.
  • Reliever Tyler Henry (W, 2-0) tossed three shutout innings out of the bullpen, giving up two hits and striking out three.
