DAYTON BASEBALL WINS OPENER AT GEORGE MASON, 9-2

Nine Flyers recorded a hit in the game.

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Dayton baseball team won the series opener against George Mason on Friday, 9-2. The Flyers (9-20, 2-5) picked up their second win in Atlantic 10 play. The Patriots (9-21, 1-6) have now lost four of their last five games.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
  • Bottom of 1st – George Mason got on the scoreboard first with an RBI single to left. Dayton 0, George Mason 1.
  • Top of 2ndMark Giesler started the second inning with a solo home run to left field. Cameron Silva doubled later in the inning, and he scored on an RBI single by Mitch Coughlin. Dayton 2, George Mason 1.
  • Top of 3rd - Giesler added another RBI to his total with a groundout that scored Robbie Doring. With two outs in the inning, Nick Ryan hit a single that brought in Glenn Jones. Later in the inning, Matt Poland reached on an error, and Ryan scored on the play.  Dayton 5, George Mason 1.
