FAIRBORN, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team played its final non-conference game of the season Tuesday and dropped a 14-4 decision to Wright State University.
The Flyers (18-34) suffered their second loss of the season to the Raiders (39-14).
SCORING BREAKDOWN
- Bottom of 1st – Wright State opened the scoring in its first at-bat on a Dayton error and a wild pitch. Dayton 0, WSU 2
- Top of 2nd – Dayton answered in the next inning when Sam Sustersic scored on a Raider error. Dayton 1, WSU 2
- Bottom of 2nd – The Raiders continued their offensive attack with three more runs in the second inning. Dayton 1, WSU 5
- Top of 3rd – Nick Weybright got a run back for Dayton in the third with an RBI single through the left side. Dayton 2, WSU 5

- Bottom of 7th – The Raiders scored three more in the seventh to push their lead to double digits. Dayton 3, WSU 14
- Top of 9th – Dayton got a run in the top of the ninth on an RBI groundout by Maverick Prine, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Dayton 4, WSU 14
KEY STATS
- The Flyers were out-hit in the contest 11-6, but did benefit from three Wright State errors.
- Weybright, Prine, and Coughlin (2-4) provided the RBI.
- Starter Mason Kutruff (L, 2-6) pitched two innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on three hits.
- Reliever Tyler Henry threw 1 2/3 scoreless inning out of the bullpen while Sam Brunner pitched a shutout eighth frame.
