DAYTON HOSTS SAINT FRANCIS, BELMONT

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will host a pair of games over Labor Day weekend at Baujan Field as the Flyers look to defend their home field. UD will face Saint Francis (Pa. ) on Friday at 8 p.m. after the women's game. The Flyers then host Belmont Sunday at 4 p.m., also part of a doubleheader.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is looking for its first win of the season after dropping both contests opening weekend. The Flyers fell on the road at Cleveland State 3-0 before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Western Michigan at home. UD has not lost three games in a row in the regular season since October 2011 (SIUE, La Salle, Fordham).

The Flyers have yet to score this season despite 19 shots, six of which have been on target. Dayton is allowing 2.50 goals per game and a .433 shots-on-goal percentage. UD does have an advantage in corner kicks however, 14-11.

The goalkeeping position has been shared by junior Oliver Hansen and senior Justin Saliba with both making a start so far this season. Senior defender Lalas Abubakar anchors the back line and earned Preseason All-Conference honors. Freshman forward Rok Taneski leads UD with seven shots, three of which were on goal.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
SAINT FRANCIS

Saint Francis enters the game with a 1-1 record overall, suffering a 1-2 overtime loss at Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne before earning a 2-0 win over Loyola Maryland on Sunday. The Red Flash won both of their preseason contests, 5-0 against Salem International and 3-0 against Cleveland State.

Head coach Paulo Neto has his offense firing on all cylinders with 11 goals through the two regular season and two preseason contests. The defense on the other hand, has limited opponents to two goals.

Freshman Renan Fuentes, freshman C.J. Smolyn, and grad student Jack Webber each have one goal apiece this season. Senior Dominic Ramirez has provided two assists while junior Troye Kiernan has chipped in an assist as well.

BELMONT
The Bruins will face Memphis on Friday before taking on the Flyers Sunday. Belmont enters the weekend with a 1-0-1 record overall, and has played both of its games thus far at home. Head coach Bryan Green is in his third year at the helm with a career record of 8-28-3. The Bruins have a win over Florida Atlantic and a draw against Western Illinois. In preseason, BU tied Cincinnati and lost to No. 22 Charlotte, 5-0.

Belmont is averaging 2.00 goals per game while holding opponents to a 1.50 goals per game mark. The Bruins have a .467 shots-on-goal percentage and 15 attempts each contest.

Four different players have scored for Belmont this season while senior Nat Hubert has a goal and the lone assist. Freshman goalkeeper Mertcan Akar is two starts into his career with a 1.47 goals against average and 12 saves.

Dayton and Saint Francis have met once previously, back in 2007 with the Flyers coming out on top 2-1 at Baujan Field.

The Flyers and the Bruins have met twice in the series history, with the last meeting also coming back in 2007. A hard-fought contest in Nashville ended in a 0-0 draw. The year prior, UD defeated Belmont 3-0 in Dayton.

LAST OUTING
Dayton suffered its second loss of the season in its home opener on Sunday, 2-0 to Western Michigan.  Goals in the fifth and 83rd minute kept the Flyers winless on the season.

Saint Francis picked up a 2-0 victory over Loyola Maryland on Sunday at home. The Red Flash earned their first victory of the season thanks to goals by C.J. Smolyn and Jack Webber.

Belmont also got its first win this past Sunday with a 2-1 win at home against Florida Atlantic. After trailing 1-0, the Bruins answered less than a minute later to tie the game. Jack Driscoll scored the game-winner in the 94th minute of overtime.

The Flyers have student-athletes from Ghana, Costa Rica, Denmark, Spain, Nigeria, Switzerland, Slovenia, England, and Colombia totaling 10 international players. This is coming off the 2015 season in which the Flyers had nine international players.
