SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Dayton women's cross country team took third place in the NCAA Division I race of the National Catholic Invitational Friday evening.
 
The Flyers (96) finished behind nationally-ranked No. 15 Notre Dame (31) and regionally-ranked No. 10 Marquette (73).
 
Dayton finished ahead of Atlantic 10 opponent Saint Louis as well as Xavier.

"The team was outstanding today," said Director of Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Sarah Haveman. "I'm extremely proud of their execution."

Sophomore Taylor Vernot was Dayton's top finisher, taking fifth place in the NCAA Division I race. 
 
Three Flyers ran personal best times: Grace McDonald took 10^th place in 18:10.3; Chloe Flora took 30^th in 18:48.0 and Olivia Hummel was 32^nd in 18:51.8, setting her PR for the second consecutive race. Flora, Kassidy Manning and Hummel were the top three freshmen finishers in the race.
