BATAVIA, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's golf team brought home the first-place trophy from the 2016 NKU Fall Classic Monday after a three-round team total of 284-283-292=859 (+7). The Flyers finished 12 strokes ahead of second-place Oakland and UD's Phillip Johnson tied for first place overall after firing a final-round 67.

There was a three-way tie with the individuals for first place between Green Bay's Joe Duchateau, Fort Wayne's Devin Jenkins and Johnson. Jenkins won on the fourth hole of the play-off with a par.

Johnson and senior Nick Paxson were both named to the NKU Fall Classic All-Tournament Team. Today's final round was delayed for about an hour midway through due to weather.

The Flyers will open the month of October at the Firestone Invitational hosted by Akron on Oct. 3-4. The two-day event will be played at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
