DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team claimed a 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21) over visiting George Washington Sunday afternoon at Frericks Center. Junior
Kendyll Brown led the Flyer attack with 11 kills while swinging at .529 hitting percentage.
Dayton improves to 17-6 on the season and 8-0 in Atlantic 10 play while George Washington moves to 7-18 overall and 3-6 in league play.
KEY MOMENT
A 3-0 spurt from George Washington pushed the Colonials in front, 21-19 late in the fourth set but Dayton answered by scoring the last six points of the frame to take the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1.
KEY STATS
- In addition to her 11 kills, Brown tallied a match-high seven blocks. Senior Amber Erhahon recorded six blocks to go with seven kills, two assists and two service aces
- Junior Lauren Bruns and sophomore Mackenzie Weaver each recorded 10 kills and Weaver was closing in on a double-double with eight digs
- Junior Margo Wolf was the Flyers' leading passer with a match-high 16 digs and senior Jane Emmenecker set a team-best 22 assists
- Dayton and George Washington were nearly even in the kills category (52-51) but the Flyers tallied 13.5 blocks to the Colonials' eight
- GW was led by Kristel Moor with a match-high 15 kills and Sydney Welch with 15 digs
UP NEXT
Dayton will hit the road next weekend with a trip to North Carolina and Virginia to square off against A-10 foes Davidson and VCU Oct. 27 and 29 respectively.
