FAIRFAX, Va. - The University of Dayton volleyball team closed out its 2017 regular season with a straight-set win at George Mason, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20), Saturday afternoon. Senior
Jessica Sloan tallied a match-high 17 kills to pace the Flyer attack.
With the win, Dayton improves to 22-7 on the year, marking the program's 30th 20-win season, and 13-1 in Atlantic 10 play. George Mason's season ends with a 6-21 overall mark and a 2-12 conference record.
KEY STATS
- Sloan tallied 17 kills to zero errors in 39 attempts for a .436 hitting percentage to go with eight digs, two blocks and a service ace
- Senior Amber Erhahon was also in double-digit kills (10) for the Flyers and junior Kendyll Brown posted the match's best hitting percentage of .545 (7-1-11) while also tallying five blocks
- Senior Jane Emmenecker had a 22-assist, 11-dig double-double and junior Margo Wolf got under 13 digs
- Dayton out-hit George Mason, .324 to .198, but the Flyers narrowly edged the Patriots in kills column, 43-42
- The Patriots were led by Bailey Williams with 11 kills and Catie Espinoza with a match-high 19 digs

As the second-place finisher in the Atlantic 10 regular season standings, Dayton has earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference championship. The Flyers will enjoy a first-round bye before squaring off against the winner of the #3/#6 quarterfinal match on Nov. 18.
