DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team heads back out on the road to take on a talented Quinnipiac squad on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. in Hamden, Conn.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers enter the contest with a 5-1 record overall with the lone loss coming in their only true road game of the season at Toledo last Wednesday.
Head coach
Shauna Green is in her second season at the helm of the Flyers after going 22-10 in her first campaign last year. The WBCA National Rookie Coach of the Year returns an experienced squad with three seniors, six juniors, and three starters.
As a team, Dayton is averaging 70.5 points per game and holding opponents to just 56.7 points, which ranks second in the Atlantic 10. UD is shooting for 40.2 percent from the floor, 29.1 percent from three, and 71.7 percent from the free throw line.
The Flyers are led by senior
Jenna Burdette, who is scoring 14.6 points per game and shooting 46.3 percent from the field. Fellow senior
JaVonna Layfield is 11th in the country and second in the A-10 in rebounds with 68 on the season to go with 11.3 points per game. Sophomore
Jayla Scaife is chipping in 13.0 points each contest as well.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC BOBCATS
Quinnipiac welcomes Dayton after posting a 1-3 record to start the season, but the Bobcats have faced a gauntlet of a schedule with losses at Iowa, to No. 16 Missouri, and No. 8 Ohio State. Head coach Tricia Fabbri is in her 23rd season at Quinnipiac and led the Bobcats to a 29-7 record and the NCAA Sweet 16 last season.
Overall, the Bobcats are being outscored 60.3 to 73.3 points per game and shooting 33.5 percent from the field, 28.3 percent behind the arc, and 70.0 percent from the charity stripe. Quinnipiac faces a -12.0 rebounding margin as well, which is Dayton's strength.
Leading the way is Jen Fay with 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Paula Strautmane is dishing out 4.5 assists each contest while Aryn McClure is contributing 10.8 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
