#UDVB Battling George Washington Friday In Nation's Capital

Flyers to Close Out 2017 Regular Season on the Road

DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is traveling to the nation's capital to take on George Washington Friday evening at the Colonials' Smith Center. First serve is set for 4 p.m. The Flyers are closing out the 2017 regular season on the road in advance of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship Nov. 17-19.

About Dayton
Dayton (20-7, 11-1 A-10) has now tallied the program's 30th 20-win season after defeating Fordham, 3-1, at home on Nov. 5. Heading into the final weekend of conference play, the Flyers are in second place in A-10 standings and have locked in a first-round bye for the upcoming championship. In addition to carrying the fourth-best hitting percentage in the nation (.452), senior Amber Erhahon is also the team's best blocker with 1.18 stuffs/set (4th A-10). Reigning A-10 Libero of the Year junior Margo Wolf leads the conference with 4.87 digs/set (50th NCAA) while junior Lauren Bruns is the team's kills leader with 3.40 per set (4th A-10).

Scouting George Washington
George Washington (10-18, 6-6 A-10) heads into the final weekend of the regular season in fifth place in league standings and looking to hold on for an A-10 Championship berth. The Colonials played a single match last weekend, a 3-1 win against its travel partner George Mason on Nov. 3 at the Smith Center.  GW is led by Kelsey Clark with 2.38 kills/set and a .261 hitting percentage. On defense, Sydney Welch gets under 4.04 digs/set (6th A-10) and Clark tallies a team-best 0.83 blocks/set.

Series Stuff
George Washington and Dayton have previously met 34 times with the Flyers holding the 33-11 advantage in the all-time series. UD and GW squared off earlier this season at Dayton as the Flyers picked up a 3-1 win over the Flyers. Dayton has won six consecutive meetings.

RPI Rankings
In the most recent release of the NCAA Rating Percentage Index (RPI) of 2017 posted Monday Nov. 5, Dayton came in at 53 according to NCAA.com. George Washington was ranked 242.

Flyer Facts
• Tim Horsmon is in his ninth season overall, and fourth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2017. His record at Dayton is 235-64 and his career win-loss mark sits at 411-228 in 19 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's second-winningest coach behind only R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last nine seasons (2009-2017), the Flyers have recorded a 117-10 (.921) mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 13 times (2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 11 times (2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 12th NCAA appearance in program history in 2016.
• With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and was just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,105-574 (.658) over 48 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2016 regular season with a 28-1 overall record and a 14-0 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2016 was the program's 38th winning season.

Last Time Out
Senior Amber Erhahon led three attackers in double-digit kills (12) as Dayton downed Fordham, 3-1, on Senior Day at Frericks Center Sunday. Junior Margo Wolf passed a match-high 17 digs and senior Jane Emmenecker set a match-high 43 assists for the Flyers. As a team, Dayton out-hit Fordham .303 to .129.
