MUNCIE, Ind.–.The University of Dayton fell in both games of a double header at Ball State on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-0 in Game One and 4-3 in Game Two at Ball Diamond.
GAME ONE – BALL STATE 6 DAYTON 0
KEY MOMENT
- With the game at just 1-0 at the midway point of the game, the Cardinals came through with three runs in the fifth inning to give the home team a 4-0 lead that would prove too much for the Flyers to come back from.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 1stÂ
- Ball State opened up the scoring with a first inning run that came courtesy of a one-out double that plated a run and put BSU up 1-0.
Bottom 5thÂ
- With two outs in the inning, the Cardinals took advantage of three walks and got a bases-loaded single to score three runs and go ahead 4-0.
Bottom 8thÂ
- After a pair of walks to start the inning, Ball State came through once again with a two-out double that put the game out of reach for the Flyers at 6-0.
GAME TWO – BALL STATE 4 DAYTON 3
KEY MOMENT
- Dayton tied the game in the top of the fifth inning and Ball State came right back with a two-out RBI to re-take the lead for good.

Bottom 1st
- Ball State scored the first run of the game courtesy of a balk, and the plated another with a single through the left side to put the Cardinals ahead 2-0.
Bottom 2nd
- The home team added another run to go up 3-0 thanks to another two-out base hit, plating the third run of the game on a two-out double.
Top 3rdÂ
- Dayton scored its first run of the weekend thanks to aggressive baserunning, as
Connor Wilson came home on an error on an executed double-steal with
Nick Ryan putting the Flyers on the board at 3-1.
Top 5thÂ
- Sophomore
Bailey Montoya launched his first career home run to bring UD within a run at 3-2.
- With the bases loaded later in that inning,
Brandon Smith hit an infield single that tied the game at 3-3.
Bottom 5th
- Right after the Flyers tied the game, Ball State jumped back ahead 4-3 for good with a double that plated the game-winning run.
