#UDBASE RALLIES TO TOP RICHMOND IN A-10 OPENER

DAYTON – The University of Dayton rallied for two runs in the eighth inning to complete a comeback win over the Richmond Spiders on Friday afternoon, beating the Spiders 6-5 at Spectrum Stadium.

KEY MOMENT
- With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Senior Robbie Doring hit an RBI single to score Nick Ryan from second base and plate the game-winning run.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 1st 
- With Robbie Doring batting, a single brought Connor Echols in to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
-The Flyers went up 2-0 as Tate Hagan followed up the first run with a single to center field, bringing Doring across to score.

Bottom 2nd 
- A solo home run by Nick Ryan puts Dayton up 3-0.

Top 3rd
- Richmond jumped ahead thanks to a four-run frame, highlighted by a three-run home run that put the Spiders ahead 4-3.

Top 4th 
- The Spiders added another run, this time of the unearned variety, to go ahead 5-3.

Bottom 6th 
- A Connor Echols' single brought Brantley Johnson home, bringing the Flyers a run closer at 5-4.

Bottom 8th 
- Nick Ryan drove in the game-tying run with a single up the middle that scored Pat Meehan from second base.  The Flyers and Spiders were tied at 5.
- After a groundout moved Ryan to second, Doring hit a single to left field to give the Flyers the lead, 6-5.

KEY STATS
- The Flyers brought out the sticks and outhit the Spiders, 14-6.  
- Dayton's 14 hits was its second-most this season, and most since its 19-hit performance against USC Upstate on Feb. 25
- Senior Robby Doring had two RBIs off two hits, including the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth.
- Senior Nick Ryan and junior Connor Echols each had three-hit games, with Ryan hitting his third home run of the season and Echols his fourth double.
- Ryan's three home runs ties him for the team lead with freshman Tate Hagan.

UP NEXT
Dayton will continue its opening weekend in Atlantic 10 play on Saturday, March 25 in a doubleheader against the Richmond Spiders. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
