#UDBASE SWEPT BY RICHMOND ON SATURDAY

DAYTON – The University of Dayton was swept in Saturday's Atlantic 10 double header against Richmond, falling 10-5 in Game One and 11-1 in Game Two at Spectrum Stadium.

GAME ONE – RICHMOND 10 DAYTON 5
KEY MOMENT
- After Dayton erased a four-run deficit to force extra-innings, Richmond erupted for five runs on four hits in the top of the 10th inning to put the Spiders ahead for good.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Top 4th  
- The Spiders got on the board first thanks to back-to-back hits to start the frame and a suicide squeeze to put the visitors up 2-0.

Top 5th  
- Richmond added another pair of runs thanks to three doubles in the inning, putting the Spiders ahead 4-0.

Bottom 6th
- Sophomore Pat Meehan got the Flyers' first hit, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and came home on a Nick Ryan double to make the score 4-1.

Top 7th 
- The Spiders came right back with a run of their own in the next inning, putting the score at 5-1, thanks to a solo home run.

Bottom 7th
- The Flyers got a home run of their own, from redshirt freshman Brandon Smith, to bring UD a run closer at 5-2.

Bottom 8th 
- Thanks to four walks, a balk, and a groundout, Dayton was able to tie the score 5-5 without the luxury of a base hit.

Top 10th 
- Richmond sent nine batters to the plate, smacked four hits, worked two walks, and ultimately plated five runs to put the game out of reach at 10-5.


GAME TWO – RICHMOND 11 DAYTON 1
KEY MOMENT
- Dayton erased a 1-0 deficit with a run in the second, but Richmond struck back for three unearned runs in the second inning and it ended up being a lead that the Flyers' couldn't overcome.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Top 1st 
- Richmond took advantage of a first inning Dayton error to plate the first run of the game and go up 1-0.

Bottom 1st
- The Flyers struck back to tie to the game at 1-1 when Brandon Smith laced a triple to right field to score Connor Echols from first.

Top 2nd 
- For the second straight inning, the Spiders took advantage of two Flyers miscues, plating three unearned runs and taking a 4-1 lead.

Top 5th 
- Richmond plated its first earned run of the game in the fifth, pushing the lead to 5-1.

Top 6th 
- The Spiders added to their lead, plating five runs on four hits to take a 10-1 lead.

Top 9th 
- Richmond added an extra run to its total with one more in the final frame to bring the score to its final of 11-1.

KEY STATS
- With Game One's extra-inning loss, the Flyers fall to 0-4 on the season in extra-inning games.
- The weekend's 37 hits for Richmond were the most given up in a three-game series by Dayton this season.
- Brandon Smith hit his third home run of the season, tying him for the team lead with Tate Hagan and Nick Ryan.
- Smith and sophomore Pat Meehan were the only two players to register multi-hit games for the Flyers on the day, both going 2-for-3 in Game Two.
