#UDBASE DOWNED IN RUBBER MATCH AT SAINT LOUIS, 5-3

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The University of Dayton came up short in the rubber match of the series at Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-3 at the Billiken Sports Center.

KEY MOMENT
- In a tie game in the seventh inning, Saint Louis seven-hitter Trent Leimkuehler launched a two-run home run to put the home team up for good.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 1st 
- Saint Louis opened the scoring with a bases-loaded walk to make the score 1-0.

Top 3rd 
- With two out and a runner on second, sophomore Pat Meehan drove home classmate Bailey Montoya to tie up the score at 1-1.

Bottom 7th 
- SLU jumped back in front 4-1 with a three-spot, highlighted by a two-run home run.

Top 8th 
- UD jumped right back into the game thanks to a Brandon Smith two-run single that brought the score to 4-3.

Bottom 8th
- The Billikens picked up an insurance run on a two-out, bloop single that pushed the score to its final of 5-3.

KEY STATS
- Freshman R.J. Wagner tossed a career-high 6.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits along the way.
- Dayton outhit Saint Louis nine to eight on the day, but were just 2-of-16 with runners on base.
- Senior Cale Dineen put together a 2-for-3 day at the plate, smacking a double and triple.
- Sophomore Pat Meehan also went 2-for-3 at the dish and scored a run.
- Redshirt freshman Brandon Smith has now reached base in 20-straight games, going 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Sunday's game.
