#UDSB AT FORDHAM FOR A-10 SHOWDOWN

Flyers and Rams to Play Three in the Bronx in Battle for Second Place in League Standings

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is headed to the Big Apple this weekend for an important Atlantic 10 Conference showdown at Fordham. The Flyers and Rams will play three games April 29-30 at Fordham's Bahoshy Softball Complex.

About Dayton
Dayton (27-21, 11-6 A-10) picked up two mid-week non-conference wins over Northern Kentucky at home on Tuesday and the Flyers' 27 wins is tied for third-most in program history. UD's offensive attack is led by senior Gabrielle Snyder with a .429 average that includes 67 hits, 13 doubles, four triples and seven home runs to go along with 33 RBI and 39 runs scored. In the circle, junior Manda Cash (14-9) holds the team low ERA of 2.39 to go with 179 strikeouts over 137.2 innings pitched.

Scouting Fordham
Fordham (36-13, 12-5 A-10) continues its seven-game home stand with a three-game set against Dayton after going 2-1 with George Washington last weekend. The Rams are currently in second place in Atlantic 10 standings heading into the second-to-last week of conference play. Fordham is led by Jessica Hughes with a .406 average, 56 hits and 51 runs scored. Lauren Quense has tallied the team's most pitching strikeouts (99) and has an 18-7 record.  

Series Stuff
In a series that dates back to 1996, Fordham and Dayton have previously met 47 times with UD holding a slim 25-22 margin. The Rams eliminated the Flyers in last year's A-10 Championship, 1-0, after Dayton won both regular-season meetings.

In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index
(RPI) that includes games through April 23, Dayton came in at 196 according to NCAA.com. Fordham comes in at 52, the highest ranking A-10 team.

She's A Hit Machine
With 211 career hits, senior Gabby Snyder now owns the Dayton all-time career hits record. Additionally, after batting her third double of the season against Northern Kentucky on Feb. 17, Snyder set a new Dayton career doubles record and she now has 54 career doubles. With seven home runs on the season, her career total of 13 ranks tied for ninth all-time in the UD record book.

Speaking of the Record Book
Junior Manda Cash has already made her mark on the Dayton record book and continues to climb the rankings. Her career ERA of 1.77 ranks third all-time in program history. Additionally, Cash has tallied 529 career strikeouts which ranks second, behind only former Flyer Kayla English (2012-15) who holds the record with 564.

She's a Quick one
With 18 stolen bases on the season, senior Hannah DeSalvo has already surpassed her career total from the last three years. Her 28 career stolen bases ranks her sixth all-time. DeSalvo has also been hit by a pitch 15 times this season, setting a new Dayton single-season record.

Dayton head coach Cara LaPlaca tallied her 233rd career win at UD on April 15 at La Salle, surpassing former Flyer head coach Jody Eickemeyer as Dayton's all-time winningest coach. She now has 237 wins at UD.
