#UDBASE FALLS IN FINALE AT SAINT JOSEPH'S

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Dayton baseball team was swept by Saint Joseph's thanks to a 6-4 loss on Sunday afternoon at Smithson Field.

KEY MOMENT
- Saint Joseph plated three runs in the fourth inning to jump ahead 6-0. Senior starting pitcher and designated hitter Brian Lau shined on the day, picking up the win with six innings of work while striking out six, and also adding two hits at the plate, including a two-run home run.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 2nd
- Saint Joseph's started the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice to go ahead 1-0.

Bottom 3rd
- The Hawks added two more runs to make the score 3-0 thanks to a two-run home run.

Bottom 4th
- SJU went ahead 6-0 thanks to a three-run frame, highlighted by yet another two-run homer.

Top 6th
- Dayton made things interesting with a four-run frame, plating two on an RBI double by Brandon Smith, and adding two more on a Brian Wood pinch hit, two-run homer.
- Unfortunately for the Flyers, they would get no closer than 6-4.

KEY STATS
- Dayton's loss eliminated any hopes of a trip to the Atlantic 10 Championship, falling to 6-15 in conference pay.
- The Flyers scored more runs in the four-run sixth than in the previous two games combined.
- Smith's two RBI on his sixth-inning double brought his team-leading total to 29.
- Wood's home run was the first of his collegiate career. The freshman is hitting .389 (7-for-18) as a pinch hitter this season.
- Freshman Jordan Cox threw his best outing of the season, matching a season-high four innings pitched, while striking out five and allowing just two baserunners (one hit, one hit-by-pitch).

UP NEXT
Dayton is scheduled to play its last non-conference game of the season on Tuesday, May 16 when the Flyers travel to Bowling Green for a 3 p.m. game.
