DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's golf team competed in 11 events during the 2016-17 season culminating with a third-place finish at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship.

The 11-man roster posted a 291.6 four-player team scoring average with senior Nick Paxson leading the team with a 72.78 individual scoring average. Dayton claimed eight top-five finishes on the year, including taking top honors at the Northern Kentucky Fall Collegiate Classic.

The team's low-round of season came on the final day of the A-10 Championship, a seven-under-par 281. Senior Caleb Wolters fired the lowest individual round of 66 (-4) during the second 18 at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational. Junior Phillip Johnson (67 - NKU) and Paxson (68 - Akron) each carded four-under-par rounds as well.

Following the A-10 Championship, Paxson was named to the All-Conference Team. Four Flyers were named to the Fall 2016 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in freshman Domenic Maricocchi, junior Erron Vandemore, senior Kevin Wargo and Wolters. Wargo was also honored with the department's RUDY Award which goes to the student-athlete who best exemplifies what it means to be a Dayton Flyer.
