#UDBASE SLUGS LA SALLE, 14-7

The Flyers have scored 10+ runs in three straight games

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team continued its hit parade against La Salle on Friday afternoon, slugging its way to a 14-7 victory at Spectrum Stadium.

KEY MOMENT
- Dayton got ahead right away on Friday, smacking four singles and plating four runs in the first inning to set the tone for a second-straight Flyer slugfest.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 1st
- The Flyers wasted no time getting the offense rolling scoring four runs on four hits, highlighted by a Cale Dineen two-run single, to lead 4-0.

Top 2nd
- La Salle got an RBI single after a Dayton error to get a run back, bringing the score to 4-1.

Bottom 2nd
- Dayton brings one across another run thanks to a bases-loaded walk by Tate Hagan, pushing the Flyers' lead to 5-1.

Bottom 4th
- UD sophomore Pat Meehan opened up the inning with a shot into center and the middle of the lineup followed suit, adding two more runs and giving the Flyers a 7-1 lead.

Top 5th
- The Explorers struck back with a single run thanks to a two-out, RBI double to tighten the gap to 7-2.

Bottom 5th
- After Brantley Johnson led off the inning with a single, Nick Ryan brings him home with an RBI double. - - Smith then picks up two more runs with a home run to left. Flyers lead 10-2.

Top 6th
- La Salle got the bats going in the 6th, as Michael Flax slugged a solo-shot to left, Dayton still leads 10-3.

Bottom 7th
- Ryan keeps his hot day going with a two-run homer, his fifth of the season, to left field and put the Flyers ahead 12-3.

Bottom 8th 
- Two more runs come across to score on a two-out double by Meehan. The score extended to 14-3 in favor of the Flyers.

Top 9th
- La Salle tallied four runs in the 9th, but it's wasn't enough to catch Dayton, as the Flyers win 14-7.

KEY STATS
- Starting pitcher Austin Cline won his team-best fifth game of the season. He now has nine for his career with the Flyers.
- UD once again had the hit party going, with six players registering multi-hit games, including two-hit performances from Mitch Coughlin, Pat Meehan, Nick Ryan, Tate Hagan and Cale Dineen.
- Redshirt sophomore Brandon Smith went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and three runs batted in.
- The Floyd Knobs, Ind., native hit his team-leading 12th home run of the season.
- Joining Smith and Ryan in three-run performances was freshman Brantley Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with a walk and also reached on an error in the game.
- Freshman reliever Tyler Jones tossed two scoreless innings, allowing just one baserunner and striking out three.
- Fellow freshman Tate Hagan joined Ryan and Smith with three-RBI games on Friday.
- With its 14 runs on 14 hits, Dayton made it three consecutive games with double-digit hit and run totals.

UP NEXT
Dayton will go for the series sweep on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Prior to the game, the Flyers will honor its 10 senior players and student manager.
