WRIGHT STATE WALKS OFF AGAINST #UDBASE, 5-4

FAIRBORN, Ohio – For the second time this season, the University of Dayton baseball team fell in walk-off fashion at Wright State, losing 5-4 at Nischwitz Stadium on Tuesday night.

KEY MOMENT
- With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Wright State rallied to score the game-winning run thanks to just one single and three walks.

SCORING BREAKDOWN
Bottom 2nd   
- Wright State opened up the scoring with a pair of runs that came across on an infield single and hit-by-pitch to put the Raiders ahead 2-0

Top 3rd 
- Dayton struck back for a single run to cut the deficit to 2-1 when Mitch Coughlin stole second and a throwing error brought home Bailey Montoya.

Top 4th 
- The Flyers grabbed the lead when UD strung two walks and two hits together, with Montoya smacking an RBI single to right field to score Brian Wood to put Dayton up 3-2.

Bottom 6th
- The Raiders battled back for a pair of runs of their own, scoring two unearned runs on a triple and a fielder's choice to go ahead 4-3.

Top 9th 
- UD tied the game 4-4 when WSU committed an error after a Takahiro Yamada pinch-hit single that scored Brad Burkhart from second base.

Bottom 9th 
- Wright State loaded the bases with two outs and scored the game-winning run on a walk.

KEY STATS
- Dayton outhit Wright State 9-8, but had no extra-base hits compared to the Raiders' three.
- Senior Mitch Coughlin finished the game with two base hits and also stole two bases.
- Freshman Brian Wood also had a two-hit performance at the plate, picking up his first multi-hit game of his career.
- Wood has hit safely in three consecutive games, with his last two hits coming in pinch-hit appearances.
- Sophomore backstop Bailey Montoya also went 2-for-4 on the day.
- It was the second straight game that Montoya had a two-hit performance.
