• The University of Dayton women's soccer team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 A-10) will open up the 2017 regular season with two road matches.
• The Flyers play the East Carolina Pirates this Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at Johnson Stadium in Greenville, N.C.
• Dayton then takes on UNCW Sunday, Aug. 20 at 1 p.m. at UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C.
THE SERIES
• This marks the first meeting between the Flyers and East Carolina Pirates.
• It's also the first meeting between Dayton and UNCW in women's soccer.
MORE ON THE FLYERS
• This is the 34th season in the history of Dayton women's soccer. The Flyers have an all-time record of 437-191-50 (.681) and have won a combined 21 Atlantic 10 regular season (11x) and tournament (10x) titles.
• UD had a 9-10-3 overall record in 2016 and was 4-4-2 in the Atlantic 10, earning the No. 7 seed in the tournament.
• Dayton returns nine starters and 71.4 percent of its scoring from a year ago, led by
Alexis Kiehl's 21 goals.
• The Flyers have made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances in program history: 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2016. UD advanced to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001. The Flyers lost 3-2 to No. 24 Ohio State in the NCAA First Round in Columbus last year.
MAC HERMANN TROPHY WATCH

Alexis Kiehl was among the 30 women selected by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) to the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer.
• She is the only representative from the Atlantic 10 on the list of standout student-athletes.
• Kiehl, a forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, is coming off a phenomenal season. She led the Flyers with 21 goals and six assists for a total of 48 points.
• Her 21 goals tied for first in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer in 2016. It's also the fourth-best, single-season effort in UD women's soccer history.
• She was a 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region First Team and a 2016 NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection.
EXHIBITION RESULTS
• The Flyers defeated Burlington 2-1 with goals from
Quincy Kellett and
Sidney LeRoy. Burlington is a Canadian club team and includes players who have committed to Ole Miss, Howard, Central Michigan, North Dakota, Vanderbilt, Massachusetts, Dayton, Arkansas, and Fairleigh Dickinson.
• Dayton fell 4-2 to Miami (Ohio). The RedHawks scored three goals in a span of three minutes to take a 3-0 halftime lead.

Sara Robertson scored second-half goals for the Flyers.
PICKED TO WIN IT ALL
• For the ninth consecutive year, the University of Dayton women's soccer team has been chosen as the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorite in a vote conducted by the league's 14 head coaches. Senior forward
Alexis Kiehl was named to the A-10 Preseason team for the third consecutive year and junior defender
Nadia Pestell was also selected to the all-conference preseason team.
• The Flyers earned 179 points and nine first-place votes. Saint Louis was not far behind with 172 points and four first-place votes.

A-10 CHAMPS AGAIN
• The Flyers won the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship in convincing fashion. Dayton outscored opponents 12-0 in three matches.

DAYTON'S A-10 BACKGROUND
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: 10 times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016). UD has also won or shared 11 Atlantic 10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013). The next closest is Massachusetts with five.
• 2016 marked the 14th time the Flyers advanced to the A-10 Championship final.
• Dayton has appeared in 20 A-10 tournaments, earning a berth every year the Flyers have been a member of the conference.
• 2016 marked Dayton's fifth title game appearance in the last six years.
KIEHL THE SCORING MACHINE
• Two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 forward (2015 & 2016)
Alexis Kiehl accounted for 21 of UD's 41 goals scored last season.
She is fourth all-time at UD for goals in a single season, ahead of three-time All-American Colleen Wiliams '12 and UD's all-time leading goal scorer Ashley Campbell '15 who scored 18 in a season.
• She tied for first in the nation in NCAA DI women's soccer for total goals scored and second for total points.
• Kiehl scored multiple goals in five matches in 2016: 4 vs. Davidson; 2 vs. St. Bonaventure; 3 vs. UMass; 2 vs. George Washington; and 2 vs. Saint Joseph's.
• She scored a career-high four goals (14th, 30th, 54th, 55th minutes), in Dayton's 5-0 shutout of Davidson Oct. 6, at Alumni Soccer Stadium. She became the first player UD history to score four goals in one match.
• She was named the NSCAA Division I College Player of the Week and TopDrawer Soccer National Player of the Week after leading Dayton to the A-10 title with a conference-record for points (12) and goals (5).

Kaelyn Johns started every game in goal as a freshman. She finished her rookie year with 79 saves.
• As a sophomore she had seven shutouts and was a two-time A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. She finished with 84 saves and a 1.07 GAA.

• Twin sisters Alexis and
Kaitlynn Kiehl committed to the UD women's soccer team after graduating early from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati. They enrolled in classes at UD in the 2014 spring semester to get a jump on their collegiate careers.

Beth Kamphaus was named to the All-Rookie team in 2015 after coming on strong in conference play.

Nadia Pestell started 19 matches for the Flyers on defense and logged 1,474 minutes in 2015. She played for the U-17 Canadian National Team and won a silver medal at the CONCACAF Women's U17 Championships in Jamaica.

Alexis Kiehl and
Nicolette Griesinger were both named to the A-10 All-Rookie team.
• Kiehl was the third-leading scorer for the Flyers and Griesinger started every match and led UD in minutes played with 2,135.
BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN
• The Flyers are 218-64-22 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. In the last six years, Dayton is 62-12-7 at home, an astounding .840 winning percentage at Baujan.
