DAYTON - Saturday, August 19 will be your first chance to see the 2017 Dayton volleyball team as the Flyers host their annual Red/Blue scrimmage. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Frericks Center and admission is free.
Dayton, which received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association's preseason top 25 national poll, welcomes three newcomers and features five seniors on this year's squad. The team is set to open the 2017 regular season on Aug. 25 against Cal Poly at the Northern Illinois Invitational.
In 2016, the Flyers posted a 30-2 overall record that included a perfect 14-0 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Dayton made its 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament last year and head coach
Tim Horsmon was named the A-10's Coach of the Year for the third-consecutive time. Also with a three-peat was
Jane Emmenecker who picked up her third A-10 Setter of the Year award while
Margo Wolf was tabbed as the league's Libero of the Year in 2016. Emmenecker and classmate
Amber Erhahon were both recognized by the AVCA by being named to the Midwest All-Region Team.
