DAYTON  – The University of Dayton men's soccer team came out of the locker room at half in a 2-2 contest, but scored four goals in the second half to pick up a big 6-2 victory over Oakland University Wednesday night at Baujan.

The Flyers (3-4-2) controlled the game throughout as they sent the Grizzlies (2-6-0) with another loss.

KEY STATS

• Dayton outshot Oakland 21-12 in the contest, including 13 on goal while the Grizzlies had just five.
• Senior Alvaro Navarro led the way with five shots, three on goal, two of which went in for scores.
• Sophomore Rok Taneski had a pair of assists in the game.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Federico Barrios had three saves in the game.
• There were six cautions in the game, two yellows by Dayton and four by Oakland.
• Six goals is the most by the Flyers since Oct. 28, 2015 when Dayton won 7-1 at home against Saint Joseph's. That season UD led the nation in scoring.

COACH'S COMMENTS

• "We played really well in the first 20 minutes, buzzing around, and then we lost form," said head coach Dennis Currier. "We dropped our heads. Anytime you've been struggling with results and it's easier to get down. We told them to go back to how we were playing in the first 20 minutes, keep it simple, stick to the game plan, don't vary from that, and I thought we did a really good job in the second half. Especially in the first 10 minutes, we had some ideas to break the lines of pressure. Once we did that, we can become very successful. I thought all of our wide guys played well today."
