The Colonials Scored The Winning Goal With 1:08 To Play In The Opening Overtime Period

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to George Washington on Sunday afternoon in Washington D.C.

The Flyers fall to 7-7-2 (3-4-1 A-10) on the season, while the Colonials improved their record to 9-6-1 (5-3-0 A-10).
 
KEY STATS
  • George Washington doubled up on Dayton in shots by a 20-10 margin in the game, including 13-6 in shots on goal.
  • Dayton had 10 corner kicks to George Washington's four, but were unable to take advantage of the set pieces.
  • Freshman Izzy Greene led the Flyers with five shots and was responsible for half of Dayton's shots on goal with three.
  • Senior keeper Kaelyn Johns corralled a season-high 12 saves on the day for the Flyers.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • The deciding goal was scored in the 99th minute with just 1:08 to play in the opening overtime period. Sofia Pavon streaked down the left side of the field and sent a cross into the box, where Natalie Silberman charged in and put away the ball into the bottom right corner of the net for the win.
