DAYTON  – The University of Dayton men's soccer team fought for a 2-0 win on the road at third-place Fordham University Wednesday, clinching a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
The Flyers (8-5-4, 4-3-1 A-10) dominated the game from start to finish with a lot on the line as the Rams (8-4-4, 4-3-1 A-10) fall out of hosting a first round game.
KEY STATS
- Dayton took the initial lead in the 33rd minute on the header by freshman Andrew Cross off the free kick from junior Rok Taneski. It was Cross' second goal of the season and Taneski's third assist.
- The Flyers doubled their lead in the 67th minute when freshman Jake Feiner beat the Fordham keeper one-on-one off the assist from sophomore Jonas Fjeldberg. Feiner scored his second and Fjeldberg earned his second assist.
- Dayton out-shot Fordham 10-8 in the game and put five on target.
- Fouls were 14 for UD and eight for Fordham.
- Junior Daniel Dos Santos led the way with three shots while Taneski, Feiner, and Fjeldberg had two goals each.
- Goalkeeper Federico Barrios earned his third straight shutout and collected three saves in the contest.
- This marks the eighth A-10 Tournament appearance in as many seasons.

"The team played very well tonight to seal up our eighth-straight A-10 Tournament appearance," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "We had our backs against the wall the last four games and have done a great job as a team playing through adversity and performing at a high level. We always wanted to extend the season and now have a chance to go after a tournament championship."
