Football Runs Past Morehead State 63-20

Dayton Scored 42 Points In The First Half

DAYTON -- On a chilly Saturday afternoon at Welcome Stadium, the Dayton Flyers' offense came out on fire and took control of the game well before halftime.

Tucker Yinger rushed for 264 yards on 18 carries, including three touchdowns. He also added a 28-yard receiving TD pass.  The 264-yard effort is second all-time in Dayton Flyer history for a single game, and he is now just 27 yards behind Connor Kacsor for the all-time Dayton record going into the final game of the season. Yinger came out of the game with just under seevn minutes left in the third quarter.

In total, the Flyers rushed for 443 yards. Quarterback Jack Cook did not have to do much through the air, but still contributed six completions (out of seven attempts), 111 passing yards, and a touchdown pass.  Dayton safety David Leisring led UD with 11 tackles.
Dayton moves to 5-5 on the year and 4-3 in the PFL, while Morehead State falls to 3-7 and 2-5 in the PFL.

FIRST QUARTER
•  Tucker Yinger got to work early totaling 41 yards on the opening drive, ending in a six-yard touchdown.
•  Dayton had  touchdowns on all three of its drives in the first quarter.
•  The Flyers only allowed two first downs in the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER
•  Eagles got on the board to start the quarter.
•  Flyers quickly responded after three huge runs by Yinger set up a Cook touchdown.
•  Dayton continued to expand the lead with another Cook rushing touchdown, followed by an interception leading to a 28-yard pass from Cook to Yinger for a touchdown.
•  Dayton out-gained Morehead State 302-193 in first half.
•  The Flyers scored on six of seven drives.

THIRD QUARTER
•   Yinger opened up the second half with a 68-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the period.
•  After a thirrd turnover on downs, the Flyers took over and Yinger ran down an-ther 37 yard touchdown.

FOURTH QUARTER
•  Morehead State completed a 13-play, 78 yard drive to score its third touchdown of the game.
•  The Flyers responded with their own six-play, 87-yard drive to finish the scoring

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
•    Yinger finished with a career-high 264 yards, second all-time for a single game at Dayton.
•    The Flyers only faced four third downs throughout the game, converting two of the four.
•    Dayton was six-for-six in the Red Zone while Morehead State was three of four.
•    Dayton extended its NCAA all-division record by scoring in its 475th game
•    Despite only completing six passes, quarterback Jack Cook averaged 18 yards per pass
•    Today was Senior Day, and all 27 available seniors got into the game. Quarterback Alex Jeske has not played since suffering a knee injury in the first quarter of the season.  
•    Senior offensive tackle and co-captain Ben Gauthier lined up in the backfield for the first time in his 42 career games (all starts), and scored a one-yard TD in the first quarter.
•    Senior quarterback Will Bobek scored a two-yard TD on his first carry of the season.
•    Senior punter Christopher Papalia, the 2018 Lt. Andy Zulli Award recipient, punted for the second time in his career, and had his second career 40-yard punt.  Today's punt was a 42-yarder.

•    Dayton travels to face Jacksonville in the season finale next Saturday, November 17th.
