Box Score Monroeville, Pa. – The Dayton men's tennis team completed a weekend sweep of three different opponents on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Saint Francis. The Flyers (8-3, 3-1 A-10) have now won five straight matches and outscored their opponents by a 24-2 margin during the winning streak.
Theo Jener and
Jordan Benjamin started the match on a positive note for Dayton by quickly winning their match at No. 2 doubles by a score of 6-1.
Will Harper and
Simon Jayaram went on to clinch the doubles point for the Flyers with a 7-5 win on court three, while
Zach Berry and
Carsten Fisher also earned a 7-5 victory on court No. 1.
For the second straight match, Dayton dominated singles play and clinched the match by the completion of the first three matches.
Jordan Benjamin,
Zach Berry and
Steven Karl won their first set by a 6-0 score before putting away each of their matches in the second set to give Dayton a 4-0 victory. Play was stopped once the Flyers clinched the match.
Dayton will return home next weekend and host three matches at the Five Seasons Sports Club. They will open the weekend with a match against Austin Peay on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., and will turn around for a double header the next day against Northern Kentucky and Cedarville at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
