DAYTON – The Dayton men's tennis team will hit the road to the Pittsburgh area for three matches this weekend, including two against conference opponents. The Flyers will first take on Duquesne on Friday at 1 p.m. and will face off against George Mason in a neutral site match in Pittsburgh on Saturday at 4 p.m. Action for the weekend will conclude on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match against Saint Francis.
The Flyers own a 5-2 overall record this season and are coming off a 2-1 weekend last week. Junior
Jordan Benjamin was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. Benjamin is undefeated in singles play during the 2018 spring season with a 5-0 overall record, while playing at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.
Quick Hits on Duquesne
- Duquesne is 2-2 overall this season with wins over Youngstown State and Carnegie Mellon and losses to Cleveland State and DePaul.
- Friday will mark the first conference game of the season for the Dukes. They went 2-4 in conference play during the 2017 season.
- Last year's match against Duquesne went the distance, with Dayton eventually pulling out a hard-fought 4-3 win. The Flyers took the doubles point and got singles victories from Jordan Benjamin, Carsten Fisher and Zach Berry to take the match.
