Fort Wayne, Ind. – The University of Dayton baseball team scored a season-high 18 runs on its way to an 18-5 rout of Fort Wayne on Wednesday. The Flyers have now won three straight and four of their last five games with an overall record of 12-25 this season. Fort Wayne, who was riding a three-game winning streak of their own entering Wednesday's game, now stands at 9-25 overall.

Dayton was looking to add some breathing room to its one-run lead, as they led 4-3 heading into the top of the sixth inning, and they got it in the form of a seven run outburst, marking the second time in three games that Dayton has had a seven-run inning. The Flyers added six more runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 17-3 by the end of the seventh.

Tate Hagan drove him home with a sac fly. Fort Wayne's Duane Miller walked the bases loaded and then was relieved by Spener Stroebel, who walked
Brett Wells and hit
Mitchell Garrity with a pitch to force in two more runs. Echols capped off the scoring for the inning with a two-run double to left field.

Brian Wood. Consecutive singles from
Brett Wells and
Brantley Johnson, followed by another

Nick Spiliotis reached on an error to allow Wells to score and Johnson would score the next at-bat on a Meehan sac fly.

Robert Young hit a single up the middle and scored when Mike Snyder hit a double into the right-center gap.

Dom Golubiewski struck out the first two batters he face in the inning, but a pair of two-out extra base hits tallied one more run for the Mastodons before Golubiewski induced a groundout from Trevor Stoner to end the game.
