Borchers And Cook Wrap Up Season At NCAA Prelims

The Flyer Duo Competed in Tampa, Fla. Thursday And Friday

TAMPA, Fla. – University of Dayton junior Emily Borchers and sophomore Lillian Cook both competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships.

Borchers, of Russia, Ohio, competed in the 3000m Steeplechase, taking seventh in her heat and finished 24th in the NCAA East region. She finished in a time of 10:19.01.

Cook, of Seven Valleys, Pa., who also qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round last year, competed in the javelin. She finished 34th with a mark of 44.04m 

Borchers broke three UD school records this spring during the 2018 outdoor track season, including in the 3000m Steeplechase at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championships in a time of 10:13.89 to win gold. 

Cook broke the Dayton record (set by her as a freshman) in the javelin with a mark of 48.99m at the Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State. She also won the A-10 title in the javelin for the second consecutive season.

This concludes the 2018 track and field season for the Flyers.
