Men's Soccer

#UDMSOC Travels To ETSU Tuesday

Both Teams Are Looking For Their Third Win Of The Season

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team remains on the road for its next contest as the Flyers head to East Tennessee State Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers enter the week with a 2-1-2 record overall this season and a 0-1 road mark. Dayton suffered its first loss of the season away at Western Illinois last game.

Head coach Dennis Currier is in his 14th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 132 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a young squad this season with 15 newcomers and just two seniors.

Through four games, Dayton is scoring 1.00 goals per game while holding opponents to 0.60. The Flyers are dominating in shot attempts with 17.4 to opponents' 8.8 shots.

Leading the way for UD is senior Aidan Bean, who has two goals and four points this season, and sophomore Trey Marchino, who has a goal and an assist. Newcomer Laurel Aug has a team-high two assists off the bench as well. Junior goalkeeper Federico Barrios has a 0.55 goals against average, 15 saves, and three shutouts in five starts.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
EAST TENNESSEE STATE

East Tennessee State has played a gauntlet of a schedule so far, facing a pair of top five teams in No. 3 North Carolina and No. 5 Wake Forest back-to-back. The Bucs head into the contest with a 2-3 record overall, holding wins over High Point, Liberty, and Appalachian State. Head coach David Casper is in first year in charge and has ETSU on a two-game winning streak.

The Bucs are scoring at a rate of 1.20 goals per game and giving up 1.60 to opposing teams. ETSU has a 13.0 to 10.2 shots per game advantage, but is shooting at a lower rate.

Danny Barlow has been the main offensive threat through five games with three goals and six points while Luke Parker has a team-high two assists and a goal of his own. Goalkeeper Josh Perryman has 14 saves and two shutouts in five starts as well.

THE SERIES
Dayton and ETSU have met just one time previously, taking place last season as the Flyers and Bucs tied 1-1 at Baujan Field to open the 2017 campaign.

LAST OUTING
Dayton picked up its first loss of the season on Saturday in Bettendorf, Iowa as the Flyers lost 1-0 to Western Illinois after weather had moved the location of the game to another site.

ETSU was victorious over previously undefeated Appalachian State 1-0 at home Saturday. A first half goal by Danny Barlow earned the Bucs their second win over the season.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will return home to host Coach Currier's former program Incarnate Word Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. ET at Baujan Field.
