Volleyball Opens A-10 Play With Win At George Mason

Papesh Leads Flyers With Career High 17 Kills

FAIRFAX, Va. - The University of Dayton volleyball team opened Atlantic 10 Conference action with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18) win at George Mason Friday night. The league-opening match was play at Mason's Recreation Athletic Complex.

Freshman Alli Papesh led the Flyer attack with a career-high 17 kills. Dayton improves to 10-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play while George Mason falls to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in A-10 action.

KEY STATS
• 61-38 - Dayton recorded 61 kills to George Mason's 38, including a career-high 17 from Papesh
• 16 - senior Lauren Bruns tallied 16 kills
• 24 - sophomore Bridget Doherty had a team-high 24 assists
• .253 to .109 - Dayton posted a .253 hitting percentage for the match compared to Mason's .109

NOTABLE
Senior Kendyll Brown was the third Flyer with double-digit kills (10) while also recording six blocks, three digs and two service aces.

Dayton remains in the Washington, D.C., area for the Saturday evening A-10 match-up at George Washington. The Flyers and Colonials are set to get underway at 5 p.m. at GW's Smith Center.
