#UDMSOC Opens A-10 Play With Saint Louis

The Flyers And Billikens Meet In The First Conference Game Of The Season

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team opens the Atlantic 10 schedule by hosting Saint Louis Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are 4-2-3 overall this year with a 2-1-1 home record. UD gave up its first goals at home this season this past Saturday against West Virginia.

Head coach Dennis Currier is in his 14th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 134 victories, the most in UD history. He leads a young squad this season with 15 newcomers and just two seniors.

The Flyers are averaging 1.11 goals each outing and holding opposing teams to 0.67 goal per game. UD benefits from a 16.2 to 11.1 shot advantage and puts 35.6 percent of its attempts on target. The Flyers also have a corner kick advantage on the season of 55 to 32.

Leading the way for UD is sophomore Jonas Fjeldberg, who has three goals, an assist, and seven points, and junior Laurel Aug, who has a goal and two assists. Goalkeeper Federico Barrios leads the A-10 in saves and ranks second in save percentage, recording five shutouts in nine games.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
SAINT LOUIS

Saint Louis heads into the conference portion of the schedule with a 3-1-3 schedule overall and a 1-0-1 away mark. The Billikens have not been beaten since Aug. 26 against Memphis. Head coach Kevin Kalish is in his first season at SLU.

The Billikens are scoring 1.71 goals per game and giving up 1.00 to opponents. SLU is dominating shot attempts with 16.4 each contest to just 6.6 by opposing squads. Six different players have scored this season as well.

Leading the Billikens are Anthony Brown with four goals, two assists, and 18 shots, while Devin Boyce has added two goals and three assists. Three players have seen time in goal this season with Seth Stiebel, Ty Frederking, and Ben Yeager combining for 15 saves and one shutout.

THE SERIES
Dayton and Saint Louis have played 23 times previously with the Flyers winning five contests while the Billikens have won 16 games. Last season, Dayton won 4-0 on the road at SLU.

LAST OUTING
Dayton suffered a 2-0 loss at home to West Virginia Saturday, the first defeat at Baujan Field this season. A goal in each half ended the Flyers' streak of not allowing an opponent to score at home.

Saint Louis drew with SIU-Edwardsville in their final non-conference game last Friday, 1-1 in double overtime. The Billikens trailed in the 52nd minute, but evened the score in the 89th minute.

UP NEXT
The Flyers continue the A-10 season on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m.
