NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Senior Emily Borchers broke the University of Dayton women's cross country all-time 5k record with her performance today at the 63rd annual Joe Piane Invitational. She finished in a school-record time of 17:16.9.

Borchers was Dayton's top finisher at 19th place of 157 runners in a race with 18 nationally and regionally-ranked teams competing. The Flyers placed 13th of 19 teams.

BYU's Erica Birk won the race in 16:19.6, followed by teammate Whittni Orton in 16:26.1, leading No. 11 nationally ranked BYU to the team title as well.

Senior Taylor Vernot was Dayton's next finisher in 31st place in a time of 17:31.3.

Including Borchers, there were nine Flyers with PRs in today's races.

Sophomore Kelly Wilker took 17 seconds off her previous PR and put up a UD Top-25 time of 18:13.1.

Senior Allison Triskett ran a personal best time of 18:27.6 and also earned her way onto Dayton's Top-25 list.

Carlee Constable took 21 seconds off her previous PR.

Senior Abbie VanFossen took 33 seconds off her previous personal best.

Freshman Aileen Hull also had a PR by 29 seconds.
Katie Miller and Reilly Madsen PRed in the open race.
