DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team suffered its first Atlantic 10 Conference loss Sunday afternoon as VCU claimed a 3-1 (18-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22) victory at Frericks Center. The Flyers were led by senior
Lauren Bruns and sophomore
Brooke Westbeld with 12 kills apiece.
Dayton moves to 12-5 on the season and 3-1 in A-10 action while VCU is now 9-7 overall and 4-0 in league play.
KEY STATS
• 12 & 25 - Westbeld posted her 11th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 25 assists. She was one of two Flyers with double figures in two categories.
• 17 & 10 - sophomore
Bridget Doherty also tallied a double-double, her third, with 17 assists and 10 digs.
• 22 - senior
Margo Wolf got under a match-high 22 digs.
• 5 - freshman
Molly Asmus equaled her career high with five blocks.
UP NEXT
The Flyers will hit the road next week for two A-10 matches in Pennsylvania. Dayton will be in Pittsburgh Friday for a 7 p.m. match at Duquesne at the Dukes' A.J. Palumbo Center followed by a trip to Philadelphia on Saturday to mix it up with La Salle at the Explorers' Tom Gola Arena.
