BETTENDORF, Iowa – The University of Dayton men's soccer team traveled to take on Western Illinois University Saturday and fell by a score of 1-0.
The Flyers (2-1-2) suffered their first loss of the season while the Leathernecks (1-3-1) earned their first victory of the year.
KEY STATS
- Western Illinois took the initial lead with a goal in the 71st minute on a rebound off a penalty kick.
- Dayton had two cautions in the game, including a red card that forced the Flyers down to 10 men in the final stages of the contest.
- The Flyers outshot the Leathernecks 11-6 in the contest and put four on target.

"This is a very disappointing result and performance from us," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "WIU showed more grit then us and we did not show enough maturity to work through the adversity of playing on the road."
