DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's soccer team continued its winning streak at home with a 2-0 victory over Duquesne Wednesday night.
The Flyers (9-7, 4-2 A-10) keep rolling along and move ahead of the Dukes (8-6-1, 3-3 A-10) in the conference standings.
Key Stats
- Junior Jonas Fjeldberg opened the scoring in the 18th minute unassisted, his ninth on the year, which leads the A-10.
- At the 60 minute mark, Fjeldberg set up sophomore Kingsford Adjei, who drove it home for his sixth goal on the year. Fjeldberg's assist was also his ninth.
- Fjeldberg led the team with eight shots, six on goal. Laurel Aug and Adjei had three goals each as well.
- Goalkeeper Federico Barrios totaled three saves. He recorded his sixth shutout on the season.
- There were three cautions in the game, all by Duquesne
- The Flyers has outscored opponents 23-4 at Baujan Field this year.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"The most important thing tonight was to get the three points," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "I thought we played sloppy tonight and missed a lot of chances. I think we expected that though coming off an emotional win on the road at Saint Louis. Ultimately, the guys did what we needed to do to get the win and the shutout."
