Athens, Ga. – The University of Dayton baseball team fell in its season opener to the University of Georgia on Friday afternoon by a score of 5-1. Georgia's starting pitcher Emerson Hancock rode a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, as the Bulldogs build a 5-0 lead during that stretch. Alex Brickman put Dayton on the board with a solo home run in the ninth.
 
KEY MOMENT
Back-to-back singles from Marcos Pujols and Riley Tirotta gave Dayton some late hope by bringing the tying run to the on-deck circle, but Georgia closer Ryan Webb was able to strike out Jay Curtis to end the game.

SCORING SUMMARY
Bottom 3rd: (Georgia 3, Dayton 0)
Aaron Schunk doubled to center field, then following an LJ Talley walk, Riley King hit an RBI single to left field to drive in Schunk. Patrick Sullivan hit a two-out double on a shallow fly ball down the left field line that dropped just outside of a diving Connor Echols's glove to drive in runners from first and second.\
 
Bottom 5th: (Georgia 5, Dayton 0)
Schunk led off the inning with a single and King hit a two-run home run to extend the Bulldog lead to five.
 
Top 9th: (Georgia 5, Dayton 1)
Alex Brickman hit a solo shot over the left field wall.
