Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Indianapolis, Ind. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team split its doubleheader on Friday with a 4-3 loss to IUPUI and a 4-0 sweep over Eastern Illinois. Dayton's record sits at 5-4 this season, while IUPUI and Eastern Illinois now have marks of 7-4 and 6-7, respectively.

After splitting courts one and three in doubles with IUPUI, the first point of the match went down to the wire. The Jaguars ended up clinching the point at No. 2 doubles with Bradley Luetschwager and Kyle Whittaker defeating Langford Hills and Joe DeMarco in a lengthy tiebreaker by a score of 7-6 (9).

IUPUI held the lead at 3-2 after splitting the four singles matches that finished first, including straight set wins from Jordan Benjamin at No. 1 and Joe DeMarco at No. 4. Benjamin, who was named A-10 Player of the Week on Tuesday, maintained his hot streak with a 7-6, 7-5 win over Alex Jochim. DeMarco defeated Ethan Mardanus-Budio, 7-6, 7-5.

Steven Karl defeated Colton Morehart at No. 3 by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to tie up the match at 3-3. With the match coming down to No. 2 singles, IUPUI's Sean Bailey defeated Langford Hills in a tiebreaker, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, to clinch the win for the Jaguars.

The Flyers bounced back strong in their second match of the day with a sweep over Eastern Illinois. Hills and DeMarco won their doubles match at No. 2, while Karl and Benjamin won their second match doubles match of the day at No. 1 to clinch the opening point. DeMarco, Karl and Lorenzo Rollhauser all racked up victories in straight sets for singles play to give Dayton the sweep.

Dayton has a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference matchups next weekend. The Flyers will welcome Saint Louis to Ohio for a match on Friday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. before facing off with Saint Joseph's on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. (ET).
