DAYTON -- The University of Dayton baseball team won both games of their doubleheader on Sunday over Canisius at DP&L Stadium. The Flyers exploded for 17 runs in the first game of a doubleheader on their way to win 17-13 over the Golden Griffins.
Takahiro Yamada went 3-for-4 with three RBI and five runs scored in his first start of the season.
Connor Echols also had three hits, while
Mitchell Garrity,
Alex Brickman,
Eddie Pursinger,
Riley Tirotta and
Benjamin Blackwell all had to multi-hit games. Yamada and Echols led also led the team with three RBI apiece.
The Flyers pitching staff was the star of the show in game two. Canisius managed just two hits and starting pitcher
Cole Pletka struck out seven batters in five innings.
Dylan Keller pitched three innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Up next for Dayton is a home game against Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, March 12 at DP&L Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. (ET).
